Thread: How do other GSC schools accommodate men’s soccer?

Default How do other GSC schools accommodate men’s soccer?

I know that some GSC schools that offer football also have men’s soccer. West Al I believe is one. What do the schools have to do to accommodate that? Add extra women’s sports, etc? The state of Georgia is a hotbed for soccer, but I don’t think any 4 year schools offer a men’s program. That could set up UWG to be successful. We already have a soccer stadium for the women too.

    The question was *how*.

There are quite a few Mens programs in Georgia.

I'm not sure how UWF does it but they have a 60/40 student population and have 7 men's sports and 8 women's. It looks like UWG is 66/34 and has only 5 men's sports, while having 8 women's. I would think they could add another men's sport now if they so choose.

They allocate the funds. 7 men’s programs and 6 women’s at DSU.

Let me try to rephrase his question for you.

*HOW* do you allocate an equal number scholarships to Men's *AND* Women's sports after factoring in the 36'ish that go to Football plus whatever you're offering for Soccer.

Where are the 36+ scholarships for Women going if you're only offering an equal number of sports for each gender like UWA? There's only x number the NCAA allows you to give to each sport. It seems you'd have to be underfunding Men somewhere.
