Yeah because middle management in a town less than 40,000 is so desirable.

In the eyes of just about everybody who didn't go to a state school ... we all just went to a 'state school'.

They don't really care which one.

People at schools like Duquesne, etc., ... think we're glorified community college party schools and Duquesne is next in line for the Ivy League.

Meanwhile many of them are paying double (or more) to get many of the same crappy degrees the 'state schools' offer.

That's because we don't run the Mickey D's you work in....the IUP grad would own the actual store and be the franchisee.

You don't know just how funny that is, because the last IUP grad I knew and came across was last working the drive-thru window at my local McD's.

I got a great job in Columbus after graduating from IUP a couple years ago. So did two kids after graduating from Slippery Rock.

    They both report to me.

Yeah there's something the water there at Slippery Rock.. I'm actually very surprised they made it out and are somewhat employable. What industry might I ask? The SR safety mgmt program is booming... literally everyone and their brother was majoring in it when I checked out.. not sure if it's because they perceive it as easy or if there are viable job prospects coming out..

yeah, it was a genuine question. I wasn't sure if there were specific companies that typically were interested in IUP grads..

Surprised there aren't more Johnny Sins types on the Wiki list.

Like any school, IUP has well recognized programs and others that are simply average.

I went to school for Safety, Health, and Environmental Applied Sciences. IUP has one of, if not, the top safety program in the country. Slippery Rock has a decent program, but they aren't recognized on a national level in the manner that IUP is. IUP's safety department holds a career fair every year just for safety students and it attracts anywhere between 80-100 companies. And we're talking huge corporations - Alcoa, PPG, Chevron, etc. - major construction, manufacturing, and insurance companies. In the safety field, IUP is viewed as the premier program in the country.

IUP also has typically has a pretty well respected nursing, education, and nuclear medicine technology program.

Slippery Rock, I know, has a very good doctorate program for Physical Therapy.

All schools have areas where they're good in something.

IUP is also a great breeding ground (pun intended) for his specific line of work.

You people need a lesson in the real world. A college degree from ANYWHERE will get you a good job assuming you interview well and are a fit for whatever the job is. People aren’t getting hired because of what school you went to besides exceptions like Harvard, MIT, Yale etc. but I can truly say that a graduate from IUP has just as good of a shot at landing a job in an interview as someone who graduated from say, Penn State.
