So, the three known 'finalists' -- of which two weren't strong candidates to begin with -- have all bailed. John Reilly turned down an interview.

Now, you need a coach who can quickly assemble a team in the next 70 days. Not to mention, of course, a coach who happens to be available in June.

No-brainer at this point. He could add Clarion's $50,000 salary on top of his next three years' worth of money from SRU.

Read this morning an assistant from Central Missouri has emerged.

I'd have went after former Pitt star, IUP assistant and current Robert Morris staffer Tray Woodall.

I've heard through the grapevine that Gary Cooper is emerging as a candidate for the position as well.

And maybe one of the players' dads will have to fill in for this year. And one of the older brothers will be the assistant.

Best thing for CUP to do at this point is either attempt to hire an ex-player or someone from the rec center.. The talk around Cooper has been heating up which would be interesting for sure.

Former Millersville ass't and current D3 head coach at Centenary, NJ - Damian Pitts.

Is he in the running? I've been hearing from close sources in the area that Gary Cooper is in the running as well and is being strongly considered.

    Pitts is getting the job.

Thank you - feels like a hire out of left field, but it's Clarion...what are we to expect.

The top 3 candidates all turned down the job. Pitts is certainly behind the 8 ball from the start due to mass transfers and having to scramble for players in June with limited scholarship money. This is no way to "transition" (using the AD's words) your program to a new head coach coming from a D3 program. Marcess Williams also went from D3 head coach to Clarion. But, who knows, maybe Pitts will be a great hire. Good luck to him.

Not that KR going to CUP was likely anyway, but do you think KR elects to just hangout for the next year or so and plot his next move? He's a coach through and through and will probably kill him to be away from the game but it's hard to imagine he takes any job at this point.

I think believe the top 3 candidates did reciprocate interest from the beginning. It's just interesting that Pitts was their guy again they were up against the time clock to bring someone in.. Good luck to him and hopefully they give him more time than they gave Williams.

Williams regressed each year. Pitts will need $$$ more than anything.

    Clarion drops the ball again...

You'll all be shocked where KR surfaces.

    Bravado Joe should hire him.

Of course, would the KCAC still boo him ?

If you can stir up that funeral home crowd ... you're good.
