CWU reserve guard Andreas Brown is transferring to EOU (NAIA). With all these Juco guards coming to CWU and freshmen like Lewis Pope and Marcus Austin ahead of him too, playing time is slim for him.

Updated NLOI with GNAC office. It looks like 10/11 teams are on the board with only Concordia with no signees. I'm sure Coach Rhodes is working on that effort a week into his new role:

Looks like Keegan Crosby comes from a big time high school program in Seattle who won the mythical National Title his senior year. His high school coach was NBA great Brandon Roy and his former teammate was Michael Porter Jr. His JC program has won the NWAC title two years in a row. 6’6 PG but was apparently injured all of last year? Can’t confirm that but 2 games played after being 6th man as a freshman seems like something was up. Can’t have too many 6’6 players though so I’m sure with his pedigree he was worth the risk.

I only did a quick search but wasn’t able to find anything on the UAF signee.

*update - UAA Press Release just came out. Crosby is a medical redshirt with 3 years of eligibility. They expect him to play a wing spot over his natural PG position. Former teammate of current star Tyler Brimhall at North Idaho CC.

Sommerfield played at Green River with Kevin Baker who signed with CWU. Looks like he was accurate from 3, averaged 15 ppg/11 rbs and is 6'7" 3 or 4 position... UAF needed some HT, so this should keep me from harping on them too badly. He looks pretty lean, but hey, you can't get everything. They did lose 6 to graduation and I suspect there will be a few that won't return that still have eligibility, so they need to find a lot more than what they have, but at least the silence is broken an we know that *something* is happening.

Hey, the kid has a nice youtube video and bonus is that he will make grades as he had a great JUCO GPA and isn't afraid to say so! Bravo.

I made a separate thread about CWU recruiting ESPN 3 star Xavier Smith, a D1 transfer from Oregon State and Idaho.

But NW Nazarene also just picked up a ESPN 3 star transfer from UC Davis in Delveion Jackson, the #2 player out of Idaho in 2017.

I see that Antonio Salinas from 1A Zillah (Yakima Valley) rec'd an offer from WOU......I think he has one from WWU as well. I've watched him for a few years. Quality baller. Undersized, but quick with great ball handling skills. Glad to see the GNAC sees his talent. Would like to see him play a few times a year.

Add 6’8 big David Riley of Colorado Northwestern CC to the Seawolves. He was noted in his writeup for knowing how to be effective in a guard oriented system, his rebounding ability and his ability to shoot out to 17 feet.

Safe to say UAA will be a perimeter oriented team this year with bigs who can do some dirty work but also stretch the floor and not clog the lane for the guards and wings to operate.

Local product, 6’5 wing Nathan Fromm has signed to play at UAA. Fromm is an extremely talented, D1 Level player who personal issues and injuries have held him back. He averaged 20 pts and 6 reb and 43% from 3 at Western Wyoming JC as a freshman. Earned a scholarship offer to D1 University of Albany which he accepted but that fell apart for one reason or another. He then ended up as a late addition at New Mexico JC where he had a injury plagued season, ending in January with a broken jaw.

As their 6th signee of the year it makes sense to take a gamble on a talent like Fromm who has the ability to be one of the best players in the GNAC IF he can put it together and play effectively within a basketball system. He is long, athletic, can really shoot and can create his own shot with excellent ball handling skills. He’s an extremely tough cover for anyone...UAA is swinging for the fences on this one and it could pay off big for them. And we are always happy to see a local kid get a chance.

CWU just got yet another D1 transfer in former Lincoln HS star Trevion Brown, from Coastal Carolina University. The point guard started 10 games early last season, scoring 24 points vs Wofford before losing his starting job. Maybe he was just filling in for an injured starter. Not sure. But if CWU wasn't already stacked at guard, they are certainly now!

Impressive, I think CWU will be really good next year. Rinta seems to be really connected in recruiting.

    * WOU got a sharpshooter from Lassen JC.

Don't know anything about him, good player? Thanks for the scoop!

D-1 transfer and redshirt last year, Gonzalez, former 6A player of the year in Oregon, is leaving WOU. Never played so I don't know if he's any good or not.

CWU has 9 recruits, 8 being college transfers. So like with football, I complied a list of the recruits that includes stats, links, accolades, etc.

Great report, thanks. One of the best D2 recruiting classes I've seen.

Concordia gets a real good player in Geno West. Things didn't work out for him at Idaho, but he is a former Oregon prep player of the year for traditional power Jefferson High School, just down the road from Concordia.

Started 9 of his 27 games played last season before injury. Major boost for the Cavs, good for them

Yep, West a great pickup for Concordia.

In other news, WOU picked up a 6-10 JC post. Know nothing about him.

Still wondering if the two guys signed earlier are still on board at WOU.

    * Former SPU star Tony Miller has left Montana. If he lands at CWU I'm gonna scream: they got enough new talent!

So he leaves SPU to go D1 at Montana. He redshirted per NCAA rules. Now he is leaving Montana (an NCAA Tournament team) before even playing there? I wonder why. The Montana fans are wondering the same, too: https://egriz.com/grizboard/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=82787
