Thread: NSIC Post-season tourney

    Default NSIC Post-season tourney

Well, its usually fun to post the post season probable match-ups around this time, but with the way the season is going and all the current ties its really tough to do yet. The top 4(and home teams in round 1) appear fairly set, Northern, SCSU, Moorhead and Duluth in the North and Wayne, Mankato, Sioux Falls and Augie in the South. But who will be visiting whom, really seems up in the air. And it doesn't appear, for now anyway, that a 5 will have a better record than a 4 , taking away their home game.
They one spot that may be locked up is Northern as the 1 in the North. They have been proving game in - game out that they are head and shoulders against the rest of the Northern teams.

Agreed...northern a lock to win the nsic tourney. Everyone else competing for second and a double digit loss in championship game.

Yeah, I'm hearing that the Chambers of Commerce in Maryville and St. Joseph are already sending information up to Aberdeen for their trip down there on March 15-19.

I havent heard anything on Ian, but if he is indeed out I wouldnt be surprised to see is fall enough to not make the tourney. He is absolutely the engine of this NSU team and the only one who is completely irreplaceable, at least for this season

Because northern is so good and will win the nsic tourney going away they are deserving of a police escourt to the regional venue...

And they are in the order that games would be played on Sunday March 3.

    Bemidji @ Wayne
    Southwest @ UMD
    ------------------------------------
    Concordia/Upper @ SCSU
    Minot @ Sioux Falls

On the potential bottom half of teams, it appears that Mary, minot, Winona and SW have played some good ball as of late.

Minot and Mary just swept Augie, so what. Oh wait.
(in my best robotic voice) Yes, Minot and Mary must be playing well to gain a sweep of Augustana, that is one of the most potentially good teams that this region has seen in some time. They don't need to wait the 2 years, they are as good as a Div. I team right now.
Now having poked the bear, I full y expect my Huskies to go in and get blown out of The Arena on Sat. night. I will be in attendance, anybody else going? Its always fun to meet some fellow board members. Well, except for Augieholic and MrAugustans, those guys can be tools. :)

Birds of a feather flock together.

That being said, much to my dismay, I am yet again unavailable for a night against the Huskies. Despite how much fun it would be to watch Sean Smith devour our much depleted front line of big men, I will be locked into a prior engagement with my wife, and I would much prefer to have you upset with me than her, simple.

For your sake, I hope Augieholic is available, as few things bring joy in life like watching Augie basketball with Mr. Holic.

Well, there will be a 'holic in the building as I just freshly washed and pressed the Huskieholic sweatshirt. :)
Looking forward to seeing the arena once again, probably for the last time as Augie visits SCSU next year(that could be ugly) as the last time I was there was in the old NCC days.

Don't look now, but Southwest is only a game back of Augie. I'd still probably expect Augie to stay ahead, but anything can happen.

This is a pretty critical stretch upcoming for the Mustangs. Four of the last 6 on the road, including road games against both of the current division leaders. This road weekend visit to Moorhead and Aberdeen could tell us a lot about our chances going forward.

Fully expect smnu to be very tough battle at Moorhead this weekend. Same with USF. No different than virtually every conference game Moorhead has played this season other than maybe a couple. Bruggeman likely to get 40+. Will see if Moorhead can hold down his teammates. Most likely 100-99 final.

Well, just try and get the word out, as I tried reminding the winona players over and over and over again Sat. night. Don't go inside, there's a bad man waiting for you down there. 6 more blocks on Sat. increasing his NCAA Div. II blocks lead.

Pfft, the joke is on the big bad Husky Sean Smith if he thinks Augie is going to give him six shots to block. Almost every team I've seen this season attacks the hoop with more fervor and consistency than the Vikings. Outside of St Cloud's favorite son, everyone else greatly prefers a good off the dribble or catch and shoot jumper rather than a chance to make the defense rotate and create an open look with the dribble drive.

    See ya Saturday night punk.
