    Default Ram Tough

    Hey everyone,

Last night Ram Tough finally found a match for his heat transplant. Tests were done this morning identifying it as a matcha. As a result, Bradley and his wife are on their way to Cleveland to undergo the heart transplant surgery.

Thank you all who have kept them in your thoughts and prayers over the past 12+ months and helped by donating. Please continue to pray that Bradley is calm (as calm as possible), that the surgery goes well and that his body accepts and flourishes with the new heart.

Prayers and Best Wishes to you, Ram Tough! Get it done and be better for it!

Surgery is still underway, going on hour 9. Continued prayers appreciated.

The new heart isn't performing as it should right now. He has had additional surgery to implant a heart pump and to make sure everything else looked good. Please keep him in your prayers as this is going to be another monumental battle as if he hasn't seen enough already.

He certainly has been a tough Ram, praying for the best.

I try to stay in somewhat decent shape & don't think my body could stand a 10+ hour operation!

His alternative isn’t feasible, so if you don’t have a choice, you fight like hell and pray without ceasing. I’ll share an update from his wife if and when I see one. Brad is one great guy—I’m hopeful we will be tailgating at the next Ship v. Shep game!

The device was successfully placed. This surgeon and cardiologist feel that in the last hour his heart has strengthened a little. He is now back in ICU in stable condition.

He remained steady over the last 24 hours. No real change, other than a couple minor procedures to remove some clotting which is normal. If another day or so passes without further strengthening, they will try to plant another device, but the heart has been accepted by his body so they are hoping it’s just taking a couple days to get the “wheels turning.”

Continued prayers appreciated. Below is a link which shares Ram Tough’s long history with heart problems. Any donations are greatly appreciated.

    Update from Brad’s wife:

“Check out that blood pressure! Praise the Lord Brad's new heart has kicked in! They are already lowering his meds and pressures a little to see how the heart handles it. I couldn't be more estatic with this news. Thanks to everyone for all the support.”

Brad got a slight fever, so they amped up the antibiotics. They turned down the Impella device all the way, and the blood pressure has remained steady. Between periods of sedation, he has opened his eyes and showed slight movement in toes and fingers. They are hoping the temperature corrects itself and they can remove the Impella device tonight (they removed the other device Saturday night). Then his new heart will be beating completely free of any devices for the first time since he was 16 months old!

    Update from Brad’s wife.

1/25 Update: Brad's lungs are doing better. He spent a large portion of the evening and is still on the CPAP. I pray by tomorrow that they are strong enough to remove the vent. I am not very good at guessing what he is trying to motion and it frustrates us both.

    He is moving better today.

Brad's Birthday is on the 31st of this month and unfortunately it will be another one spent in the hospital! He can receive cards at the following address...

    Bradley Damron
    Cleveland Clinic
    9500 Euclid Avenue
    Cleveland, OH 44195

I am still working in a way for you all to send packages. Let me know if you fall into this category and I will see what I can do. Please help make his birthday a little more full of happiness.
