    Default Jalen Hurts To Pitt!!!!!

The Tuscaloosa Times is reporting Jalen Hurts is transferring to Pitt State!!

Jalen Hurts former Alabama Crimson Tide starting quarterback commits to Pittsburg State (KS) Gorillas football team. In a surprising move, Hurts spurned offers from Texas A&M and other Power 5 schools to drop two divisions and play in southeast Kansas.

"Getting the opportunity to have my growth stunted by Dave Wiemers really appealed to me" Hurts said. They have a great stable of running backs and you never know which one is behind you or why. I like the fact that instead of going with the hot hand, Coach Wiemers runs running backs in and out at on a whim." Hurts continued " it's really hard to build flow and a feel for the game when this occurs and I'm looking forward to the challenge."

Hurts also mentioned he has had overtures from the tv show Dancing With The Stars. "Absolutely, the interest DWTS has shown in me contributed to my decision to come to Pitt." When pressed for the reason why Hurts replied " Well it's not every day you find the combination of a center who can't snap so I have to constantly be on my toes in case it sails over my head or dribbles back to me like a weak ground ball to 2nd base. Not only that but have you seen that line "block"? Where else can I showcase my elite speed along with my quick footwork and twists and turns, ducks, and dodges better than hiding behind the Pitt O-line?

When asked if he was worried about the route running tree and cohesiveness with new receivers Hurts smiled and scoffed " I know how to throw a slant, a bubble screen and hand off on a jet sweep. With that being 94% of the passing playbook I feel confident I can learn the last 6% in the upcoming months."

Pitt is so deep at qb that Hurts has now changed his mind and will officially transfer from Alabama to Oklahoma instead of Pitt State.

LOL ... throw in the trick plays (and the cutbacks and edge routes on the run game), and that’s most of our offense the last two years.

    I wish I could say I was joking ....

He was on his way until OU paid him more, i mean recruited him to come save them and have a chance for revenge against Bama.

Anything that's not a slant or a bubble screen is considered a trick play at Pitt and was probably run without the OC's permission.

I think Jalen was set to come to Pitt, but Beck told him he was going to play DL, he declined.

Haven't visited in a while and this thread caught me. I read other threads about Pitt St. recruits and what their fans think will be the outcome of this next season. A couple of thoughts intrigued me about your OL. Most coming back, good until you get to the 10 yd. line, can't make 3rd and one, and so on. Just wanted you to know if you don't already that you really got a good OT in Trace Jeffries from Broken Arrow and Abilene Christian. When Trace was elevated to our starting OL last year as a true freshman, things started falling into place for our team. We immediately won 4 games in a row, our running game picked up and in general a so-so OL turned in to a pretty strong unit. During that time we beat FCS top 10 Nicholls St. (eventual conference champ) and perennial playoff team Sam Houston St. Not sure what impact Jalen Hurts would have made on the Gorillas but Trace Jeffries will make a difference. And he has 3 years left. I hope you can use a mobile, 6'4" 300 lb. offensive lineman.

Well, hopefully he can develop as a player on his own. The OL coach at Pitt sucks ****.

Yeah, as posted above, it's a coaching issue with the OL. Our best bet in the past few years has been to get transfers in who have some semblance of development before they get here. Sounds like Jeffries may be just what we need.

Not sure how developed he is but he learned from a pretty good ex-MIAA coach from "the evil empire up in Northwest Missouri." I'm thinking coach Dorrel (an old OL himself and a pretty good developer of OL's at NWMSU) took a liking to this young man and saw huge potential. Good luck this year. Go Gorillas. By the way, I lived in Wichita for 25 years, followed Pitt State and played in lots of golf tourneys at the Pitt Country Club.
