Default WAAAAAAYYYY too early Regional Rankings

We've just dipped our toe into conference play, but I'm curious what you think about the current regional rankings. Here is how I would see it based on the first month of the season.

    1. Northwest Mo. St.
    2. Missouri Southern
    3. Southern Nazarene
    4. MSU Mankato
    5. Washburn
    6. St. Cloud
    7. Sioux Falls
    8. Northern St.
    9. Wayne St.
    10. Pittsburgh St.

I think Mo. Southern and NWMS should be 1 and 2 in either order. I feel like Wayne State should be higher. They have had an excellent season so far and have several quality wins. Pitt State could be a little higher. Washburn is about right (4,5 or 6) and I am not sure about everyone else. I do know that Southern Naz. is legit. I am not sure what happened to them in their last game but some times things can spiral in a bad way out on the road. They have size, athleticism and very good guard play. Should be a fun season.

In fact, move NW down to 5 below Washburn.

I don't care where they are at, just seeing Wayne on the list brings tears to my eyes

    :)

That would work. Why is NW even on the list? :)

    Culture wins

This early, the exact order is not overly important. I do think you've named 10 teams that we could see in the regional talk near season's end - all have had very solid starts and look to have some talented rosters and good coaching.

With SNU getting blown out by 30, they may not deserve to be quite so high. I think the best teams find ways to keep it close even during cold-shooting nights, but the Storm was blown away at SEOK.

Lose by 1 or lose by 30, it doesn't matter. Unless things have changed, margin of victory is nowhere to found in the regional ranking criteria.

Sorry Randy, thought we were looking for opinions here. Sounds like it's all formula based and therefore could someone just post the ratings and no followup comments are necessary?

Maryville is good at hosting regionals. They made the NSIC teams feel really welcome last year.

(We did our part too - you're welcome Mustangs)

Folks were nice enough for sure, however until that road improves from the interstate I will very likely never make a return trip.

    Which one did you take?

136 and then 46. When I talked to the locals they said that was basically the only way in. All I could wonder is how many people die on that stretch per year.

You should of taken 136 through Tarkio and Burlington Jct to 71. 46 is a farm road. It's about the same time wise.

In addition to what's been mentioned you could stay 4 lane the entire way but it will add 30 minutes or so to the overall trip. Take 29 down to just north of St. Joe and take 71 back North to Maryville. Obviously, longer but 4 lane the entire way. I've heard of a few people who do that when the weather is bad and roads are questionable. Especially students coming from Omaha area.

    1. Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats
    2. It
    3. Doesn't
    4. Matter
    5. No
    6. One
    7. Will
    8. Ever
    9. Beat
    10. Them

This is partially for those NWMSU sandbaggers and partially because I have no idea what to make of the region now. A bunch of good teams, but 1 that is clearly the head of the class.

I feel like this is going to be a season where the NSIC has a tournament championship who would've otherwise finished outside the Top 8.

Here are the 15 teams that I think have a shot at the regional. It's crazy just how close 2-15 in the region are.

    1 Northwest Missouri State
    2 Washburn
    3 Southern Nazarene
    4 Northern State
    5 Missouri Southern
    6 Minnesota State
    7 Wayne State (Neb.)
    8 St. Cloud State
    9 Pittsburg State
    10 Sioux Falls
    11 Lincoln (Mo.)
    12 Southern Arkansas
    13 Augustana
    14 Fort Hays State
    15 MSU Moorhead
