Default Allen HS Kyler Murray Wins Heisman

Major CONGRATULATIONS to Allen High School's own Kyler Murray who won the Heisman.

I am NOT a Sooner fan.....by any stretch of the imagination....but I am a HUGE Kyler fan. Have been since he was 8 years old.

From youth football on, it was very obvious that Kyler was going to be a very special athlete. I remember how this little tiny kid would sit and study film with great intensity while the other kids would leave the media room and run outside to play and goof off.

I could not think of a more deserving young man.

Also CONGRATS to Kevin & Missy. Job well done.

He has signed a $4.66 million dollar contract with the Oakland As after being drafted in the first round of the MLB draft.

Getting paid to play baseball doesn't make him ineligible to play college football though. I know he's said he's going to play baseball, just haven't heard for sure if he's not playing football next year.

Oakland allowed him to play one season from what I understand. I’m sure it is part of the contract.

Yes. He reports to the Oakland A's Spring camp after the Bowl games.

He would like to play in both MLB & NFL, but under his current contract he can not.

I heard something on the radio this morning saying the 28th pick in last year's NFL draft made twice as much as his Oakland A's contract is worth. This might get interesting.

It depends on how you look at it. It is somewhat of an apple/orange situation.

One consideration is that baseball offers a lot longer career on average.

Plus a lot less concern about permanent health issues.

If he is that good, oakland will bend, NFL will pay him way more money, they would be stupid not to adjust. He will make them a TON in jersey, merch, and ticket sales.

I am too close to the situation to really comment on these opinions and speculations.

Perhaps more importantly, baseball contracts are 100% guaranteed. He could sign a larger contract in the NFL, but he could be a play away from losing big $$.

He will choose the NFL and it is the smart move to make. Right now, he is projected to go in the 1st round, 2nd round at the latest. He will make more upfront money in the NFL than MLB. He will have to ride the buses a few years in baseball before he gets to his big money contract. He probably would have already made 20 million by that point in football, not to mention the endorsements he will be getting. He is still deciding between the two sports but the latest information is he is leaning to football. He submitted to have his round grade for the NFL Draft this week. I think he wants to play both but that would be difficult in today's world, especially playing the QB position. For me, I think he is going to go high in the first round.

Once his college career is completed....he and his agent are to meet with the A's and discuss all options.
