    Default MWSU

    Swept at home by Lwood.

The men started out tight. At the 10 minute mark of the first half they had made one FG and one FT. Made an 11-2 run at the end of the half to cut the lead to 10, and got it to seven a few times in the second, but the Lions just dominated in the paint.

Looks like the women have been hit by the injury bug again.

Next up: Lincoln, a men’s team that looks like they played NW tough, and a women’s team that is undefeated despite being picked #DFL in the preseason.

You guys have awesome video work for a D2 program working its way out of the cellar. Anyone know if these videos are student-created, or does MWSU hire out a video team to make these?

We have a full-time video guy who puts most of the packages together. One of the best investments the athletic department has made imo.

Griffon men get an 89-81 win over Rockhurst to head into break with a .500 record and match last year's win total at 6-6. First win in Looney all year. Hit free throws down the stretch, which has not necessarily been a strength this season. Freshman Tyrell Carroll leads the way with a career-high 23 points. They play 7-3 Illinois-Springfield on Dec. 30.

Griffon women beat Newman 68-58 to also head to Christmas at .500, 5-5. Like the men, they needed free throws down the stretch to seal the deal. Got one of their injured players back - guard Brittany Atkins gets 7 points in 22 minutes in her first game action since January. They also play Dec. 30, against 1-7 Adams State.

First back-to-back road wins for the men since 2014-2015. Griffs overcome an 11-point deficit in the second half yesterday to beat NSU 71-70.

Women led wire-to-wire in beating NSU 63-49. Important bounce-back after giving up 29 points in the fourth quarter against UCO.

Home games against Washburn Wednesday and Emporia State Saturday.

The focus on the foul at the end obscures the effort by both teams in the loss to Washburn. With the exception of a few minutes in the second half when the team seemed content to settle for the "easy answer" 3s, this was a very good offensive effort by the Griffs. The 20 assists is the most in a game since 2010. I can live with 14 turnovers at that pace against a quality opponent.

Washburn was credited with 14 fast break points - it felt like 50. They got up and down the floor quick.

All in all, another step forward for the Griffon men's program.
