KCUR in KC did a nice summary of the facilities improvement race in the conference, focusing on the push for indoor facilities and bigger video boards :-).

Gotta believe the next step is increasing the length of the hot dogs sold at the concession stands.

The arms race is a battle that dates back to 2010, according to Bruce Steinbrock, the director of development for Washburn University athletics in Topeka, Kansas.

“When the Kansas City Chiefs and Missouri Western formed a partnership and built a 120-yard turf facility, it changed the landscape,” he said.
The indoor facility added a new wrinkle, but the arms race had been going on for a long time before that.

I agree. I really think it began with Walton Stadium, Pitt State's renovation, and then Northwest's new stadium and 32" TV in the endzone.

32 feet, I hope, not 32 inches... that'd be tough on the fans

Kearney hot dogs are the absolute worst in the conference. They have red dye in them that stains the buns, frickin gross

Improved concessions are a part of it. Pitt has pallucas sausage and rigatoni and rib crib, although I've no idea why they have the latter. They also have some other options.

Old joke referring to the original video score board at Northwest. It was located on the North end of the stadium and hard to view during day light.

Best thing about it was Omon’s run vs GV

Greatest run ever at Bearcat (Rickenbrode) Stadium, bar none.

    Try this one:

I wish we could still have Gary Thorne and Bob Davie cover D2 playoff games.....simply the best.

Anyway, Omon used the 32” TV to help him avoid Brandon Carr. Easily the loudest Bearcat Stadioum has ever been.

Wouldn't recommend the popcorn at Pitt. I think the cardboard box it came in would have been easier to chew. Must have popped it way in advance. Hot Dog I had down there was ok though. Should have waited until after half time when they were two for one

Those are great. The absolute best are Wimmers Course Ground Natural Casing Weiners. They are actually made by the same company now.
