The Ichabods had an easy tune up game over NAIA Avila by a margin of over 30. Now on to conference play. We start with 3 tough road games. At our rival Emporia State then to up start Mo West and finally against a NWMS team that has been playing great all season. The Bods have a solid 9 man rotation and our inside game is getting better every game. Today 6’7” Frosh Sevon Witt had 19 and 6’7” Sr Dave Salach chipped in 16. Can’t wait for the conf season to get going again!

Just got back from Emporia. The Bods were up 18 and cruised to a pretty easy win. Emporia State put up
a fight the 2nd half but got no closer than 10 and Washburn ended up winning by double digits. The Ichabods were really good in the first half. They still have not put two really good halves together. This team strengths are their depth. 39 bench points tonight, their balance-4 guys in double figures and their unselfishness-23 assists tonight. Javion Blake is turning into a great scorer-32pts tonight. The two freshman are growing up right before our eyes-Sevon Witt 16pts and Jalen Lewis 11pts. We are led by a terrific point guard in Tyler Geiman-9 assists and 6 rebounds. I love our 9 man rotation. We guarded our arses off the 1st half and if we can sustain that for a whole game I think we are going to be tough to beat. Emporia State is going to be a tough out at home. They have some grit and some fight. I was impressed with them the 2nd half. They attack the rim and they shoot it well from 3. Doty is going to get them going. On to Mo West on Wed night. They will be tough at home after winning 2 straight on the road.

    Hmm... interesting.

In all seriousness, it looks like WU may be the toughest competition for the conference title after Southern's week. Lot of games left though.

I am technologically challenged. I think I hit the reply with quote button rather than just the reply button. I am also old which gives me an excuse to fumble around with technology. I think it is too early to anoint us as the top challenger but thx. Mo Southern will get it going and Pitt had a big win at Lindy. I think Lincoln is definitely in the mix as well. I would also not count out Fort Hays and UCM. They have a lot back and UCM is getting healthy. I think we are all chasing NW at this point. Just hope we can get the win against Mo West on Wed before we play you guys.

Lol, I get the old..........in fact, am willing to bet I have you beat age wise. Glad you are posting and I think Washburn will be a very big challenge. Glad the game is in Maryville at this point. Of course we have ESU to worry about first. Good luck against MW.

Mo. West will be fired up and will be a handful. Let's hope that we both win so Saturday's game will be even bigger. Good luck to you guys against Emporia State.

The Ichabods survived a tight one and won in OT at Mo West. Washburn was very fortunate to win. They were down 6 with 1:30 to go in regulation but got to OT thx to a missed FT by Hightower with 13 seconds left. Blake was special with 30+ and Salach was really good late and made the shot to force OT and then came up big in OT. Washburn only turned it over 7 times in 45 minutes. Point guard Tyler Geiman played 43 minutes and did not turn it over. Tyus Martin and Jalen Lewis were in double figures and Devyn Wilson and Jayce Williams were huge off the bench. The officials called a foul with 1.8 seconds left in OT that ultimately decided the outcome. It was an obvious foul but you hate to see a game end like that. Mo West is for real. Much improved they were 19 for 44 from 3. They are tough to guard and they have a nice Freshman point guard and some crafty veterans led by Hightower. On to NW in the battle of the conf unbeatens.

The Ichabods got a great team win against winless (in conf.) Kearney last night in Topeka. Coming off a very average performance against NWMS on Saturday, I think it was a good bounce back. The Bods had 25 assists against only 8 turnovers led by point guard Tyler Geiman with 16 assists and 0 turnovers (he also thru in 9 rebounds). The Bods play their best basketball when the ball is moving and everyone is involved. They are athletic and they run good stuff offensively but when the ball gets sticky and there is a lot of one on one stuff (like we saw at NWMS) then the Bods are very beatable. I think NWMS's defense had something to do with that but 10 assists against 14 turnovers (NWMS game) is a recipe for disaster for Washburn. Tough one Saturday against FHSU. They are playing great ball and had a nice win at Emporia State by 11 last night. Have to win to stay one game back of NWMS.

Just got back from a hard fought Ichabod victory at home vs FHSU. The Tigers were up 67-60 with 5 to go and Washburn closed with a 20-6 run to win by 7. This was a very good college basketball game. Fort Hays came in with a good game plan and they gave the Ichabods everything they wanted. Washburn won with great post play from Dave Salach and they finally got out in transition with some great finishes by Javion Blake to pull away at the end. FHSU is experienced and they are really good defensively. They will be a tough out the rest of the season. The Ichabods have two tough road games this week at Mo Southern on Wed and at Pitt State on Sat.

The Ichabods lost a tough one Wed. night in Joplin against MO Southern. It was their inside game against our outside game. The Bods got beat on the boards for the first time all year and we just couldn't handle their length and their strength inside. They shot 28 FT's to our 14 but I think it was because of their advantage inside. On top of that the Lions made an incredible 27 out of 28 from the FT line. Jalen Lewis and Tyler Geiman were incredible from the outside going 11 for 15 from 3 pt land. David Salach did a good job on Martin even though he is a beast but Memic stepped up with 13 big points all in the 2nd half that was the difference. Missouri Southern is extremely talented. I have seen both NW MO State and Missouri Southern up close and personal. I feel like NW Mo State is the better team but Missouri Southern is the most talented. I don't think I have seen a big like Cam Martin. He is impressive and is only a sophomore. NW gets them at home so I would say they have the advantage but Cam Martin is tough to deal with and NW doesn't really have a true post player. It will be interesting when those two teams play in a couple of weeks.

Btech, you are gracious as always. That game last night could have easily went either way. Two very evenly matched teams, each with their own strengths.

Young Cam should continue to gain respect from the refs as they begin to realize he is talented and doesn't deserved to get whacked every time he tries to shoot.

Most fans think his arms are tattooed but those are actually just bruises. (Haha)

I really don't want to run into you guys again in KC unless it's for the tourney championship.

Defending Martin will be a challenge for NW. not sure who will draw that assignment between Witthus, Hawkins and Welty. NW will show interest in doubling down to help when ball goes to post, but usually just long enough for the dribble to be expired and then recover. My biggest concern is keeping him off the offensive glass and off the charity stripe.

I noticed that southern played about 50/50 man/zone. Nw usually does a good job shooting teams out of a zone. Bods has no trouble getting ball in the middle against the zone and once it got there the kick out was widely available. I’ll be interested when in man who Martin will defend. Witthus, Welty and Hawk will be tough matchups for Martin. He will be pulled away from the rim to defend the 3. Once that happens, NW likes to run a two man game with Hudgins and one of the others. If Hudgins penetrates and Martin leaves his man, then they more than likely will pay the price.

Looking forward to see the game plans of both teams.

Until last year's regional game... brutal. But I'm not bitter... really, I promise, I'm over it! ;) I'm just messing... I agree with all your takes on this matchup. It should be a good one with mismatches both ways. Southern sure has a way of giving us fits, so I don't think I'd be a willing gambler either way.

I want to apologize... after I backed out of this thread, I realized it was all things Ichabod and I'm replying to Catillac about MSSU vs NW. Maybe we do hijack everything. My bad... Go bods!! (I don't really mean that last part, just don't want to get stoned.)

I was responding to Btech’s comments about the NW/MOSO matchup; so it was fair game. It’s usually those NSIC guys who are sensitive about staying in your lane.

Lol... you're good. You were still in the context of the thread with MSSU just playing Washburn, but I may have stepped out of bounds and turned it NW. I don't want to be that guy. ;) Okay, I'm leaving now... sorry Ichabods!
