And it only cost $70 million to build and is not even the most expensive High School Football Stadium in Texas.

I remember visiting my in-laws in Texas one winter as they are snowbirds. These stadiums were the talk of the state and it just blew my mind that $70-$80 million a piece was being spent on high school stadiums.....

But according to the McKinney Superintendent, this stadium was not about showing off.

In Texas the high school football coaches earn an average of $98.668, teachers average $55.221. The highest paid coach in the state earns $155.156 annually. I guess they value HS football in TX. McKinney TX. is located 30 miles north of Dallas and IMO a fine location for the champion game, everybody would love to have it in their backyard. Good weather and not a bad drive from Mankato, Duluth or Sioux Falls. That HS stadium blows my mind, they have some money in Texas or a different set of priorities.

They have to try to keep up with other North Dallas suburb Allen (who’s stadium is still even nicer and the one in McKinney is nicer than most D2 college stadiums). At the same time, some people would probably look at Minnesota funny when they hear that a $15 million (in 2003, almost $21 million in today’s $$) high school hockey arena was built. (Privately. The Little Ralph in Thief River Falls)
