    Default Week 2 NE10 scores

Southern CT starts the week off by hosting Bentley. Lightning has delayed the game to 8:00 PM at the earliest, which is surprising since I thought that central PA (my home) was getting all the world's rainstorms these days!

Paul has the scoop - tonight's game has been postponed due to the weather.

Hope it’s ok out there, still have lots of family there...we got 11 inches of rain here last Friday in like 7 hours. Floods popped up everywhere.

SCSU up early 14-0 in the first. They have outgained Bentley 239 to 8 yards. I know Bentley has had injuries on their offense, but their defense hasn’t been good at all. At this rate, SCSU might put up 50 today.

End of first, SCSU leads 16-0 with a safety caused by a holding penalty in the end zone. They gained 272 yards to 22 for Bentley. It honestly could have been worse, SCSU had a drive stall close to the red zone as well as their two TD drives.

(Oh dang it, stat tracker was a quarter behind! It’s actually halftime. SCSU still whooped Bentley, though.)

A tale of two halves...it is now 17-16 Bentley midway through the fourth.

24-16 now, 4 minutes left. Seamus Leary can’t be stopped!

SCSU returns the kickoff and scores a TD with short field. 2 point play fails and it’s 24-22.

Bentley runs out the clock after an onside kick attempt failed and beat SCSU 24-22. A team that could only move backwards in the first half transformed in the second with a new QB. SCSU had no answer after having all the answers in the first half.

Quite the comeback for Bentley. Seamus Leary was the difference and the Bentley offense finally showed some life.

It was all SC in the 1st half and all Bentley in the 2nd half.

Post leads AIC 3-0 at the half, on a 49-yard FG by Joey Tolgyesi early in the 2nd quarter. Early on it looked like the Pioneers might run the Jackets out of the stadium, but after a shovel pass and a nifty 39-yard run by Tim Marinan brought the Pioneers to the AIC 4-yard line, Post couldn't punch the ball over the goal line and Tolgyesi's 28-yard FG try was ruled wide. On Post's second possession, Chris Laviano's pass into the end zone was batted around and ruled an interception, despite the fact that the defenders had intended receiver Michael Richardson completely wrapped up, with one defender clearly holding onto Richardson's face mask, which was inexplicably missed by the officials, although it was visible to the fans and the entire Pioneer bench. Since that non-call, the game has become a defensive stalemate, with the exception of Tolgyesi's FG and a missed 33-yd FG attempt by AIC PK Gianni Romeo as time expired.

Good job by AIC holding them out the end zone. Offense need to help out the defense and put some points on the board.

After Post kicked off to start the 2nd half, Post DB Kasim Thomas picked off Kwame Jarvis on the second play from scrimmage to put the Pioneers on the AIC 26-yard line. The AIC defense held once again, but Joey Tolgyesi put the ball through the uprights for a 6-0 lead at 11:43 of the 3rd quarter.

After being "tackled" by the Umpire at the AIC 1-yard line on his previous carry, "Touchdown Tim" Marnin punches it across, Tolgyesi converts and Post leads 13-0.

On the first play after Post's kickoff, the Pioneer D forced Tommy Smith to fumble. The Pioneers recovered at the AIC 35, and Laviano hooked up with Deon Mash on a beautiful fly pattern down the left side for another TD. Tolgyesi converted and Post leads 20-0 with 1:11 left in the 3rd.

Conor Farrell picks off another tipped AIC pass on the first play of the 4th quarter and the Pioneers are back in business deep in AIC territory. Malik Pierre punches it in from the 4, the PAT fails and the Pioneers lead 26-0.

AIC breaks a big play on a pass from Jordan Hiscoe to Christian Dargan down the right side for a Yellow Jacket TD. The 2-point conversion is good and Post leads 26-8.

After AIC's kickoff, the Pioneer offense finally puts together a sustained drive (14 plays, 74 yards) with the second team and caps it off with a TD from freshman WR Matthew Zelaya. The kick is good and Post extends the lead to 33-8 with 3:58 remaining. No further scoring; final score 33-8 Post.
