    PSAC fans will remember Gannon
s Adam Balzek of a few years past.

Adam Blazek named MVP in international basketball league

Former Cathedral Prep, Gannon standout earns Georgian Super League honor.
Adam Blazek must declare a significant basketball trophy at customs whenever he returns to the United States.
Blazek, who formerly played for Cathedral Prep and Gannon University, just completed his first season with BC Rustavi in the Georgian Super League. The guard’s performance was deemed worthy of the league’s most valuable player award.
Georgia, which borders the Black Sea’s eastern shore, became an independent country in 1991 after the Soviet Union’s collapse. Rustavi, located in the country’s southeastern corner, has a population of more than 125,000.
Blazek arrived there after two seasons with the Niagara River Lions of the National Basketball League of Canada. As a rookie, he helped Rustavi to a 21-11 regular-season record, plus a playoff run through the semifinals.
Blazek was the league’s leader in average assists (5.8) and steals (3.6) per game, and his scoring average (17.9) was third overall

I remember calling the double-overtime playoff thriller in the 2014 quarterfinals at the Hammermill for CUTV (we went up there to cover the women's game primarily, but we couldn't break down the equipment after the women's game due to the set up of The 'Mill; and, trust me, it's not fun running cameras up in the crow's nests at the top of the bench side stands as those boxes were very tight to begin with). Adam Blazek took control of the game late and helped Gannon eek out a win over Slippy Rock.

To say the least ... He's the guy you wanted to have the ball in late game situations ... or playing defense on the opposition's best guard. Glad to see that he continues to do well.
