Great how Tort posts this info like this!

Are there any scrimmages or just the spring game at the end?

Any word on uniform changes? Are the stripes indeed coming back on the trousers and helmets?

    The spring rooster is up!

Looks like some players changed their jersey numbers--

Kolbe Hughes to #2 (from 84 IIRC)

Dom McNeil to #4 (from 83)

JR Stevens to #7 (from 22)

One new name is Michon Sobers (WR, 6'4", 220 lbs) from Jacksonville State.

Also of note: McDonald-Horner moved to LB

I'm not sure if it was mentioned on here already, but Tort won a nice honor with being named D-II Co-Coach of the Year.

What to do for an encore after going 13-1, winning the conference, the region, and advancing to the national semifinals?

Is there news on if any players from last years roster transferred to other institutions?

McDonald-Horner moving to LB... Let's hope he keeps his attitude in check, no more stupid penalties...

If that happens PSACHomer3.0 can come to the parade.

So Lenny is the QB participating in spring ball????

Let's play an installment of "Buying or Selling" as relevant to the upcoming 2018 IUP football season. Buying of course means that you agree with each of the various statements below and selling means that you disagree.

    Let's dive right in.

    1. Paul Tortorella (best known as Tort) has been a major upgrade in the IUP football head coaching office?

    2. Lenny Williams will win the Harlon Hill in 2018?

    3. The return of Chris Temple will add a lot of pop and bang to the already vaunted IUP rushing attack?

    4. DB J.R. Stevens is the next big thing on the IUP defense?

    5. IUP will advance to at least a national championship game appearance in 2018?

    1. Paul Tortorella (best known as Tort) has been a major upgrade in the IUP football head coaching office? Buying in terms of giving more autonomy and being more receptive to the input of his assistants. He has a management and coaching style that seems to be widely accepted and appreciated by those he coaches and manages. His communication skills and use of social media are excellent.

    2. Lenny Williams will win the Harlon Hill in 2018? Selling. Unless Lenny throws and runs for huge numbers, he won't win the HH. But he doesn't need to win the HH for IUP to make a deep run in the championship tournament.

    3. The return of Chris Temple will add a lot of pop and bang to the already vaunted IUP rushing attack? Buying. A stronger ground game for sure.

    4. DB J.R. Stevens is the next big thing on the IUP defense? Pass. I hope he does, but I don't know much about the secondary.

    5. IUP will advance to at least a national championship game appearance in 2018? I'll impulse buy. That's the next step to getting better every day. They are not that far away, solidify the defense and improve a bit on pass protection.

    1. Paul Tortorella (best known as Tort) has been a major upgrade in the IUP football head coaching office? upgrade yes, major ? only time will tell.

    2. Lenny Williams will win the Harlon Hill in 2018? Selling - he will not have the gaudy numbers, since they will do like last year, and only let him out of his shell when they need to. Most teams they are just going to win with ground and pound, and the occasional play action pass.

    3. The return of Chris Temple will add a lot of pop and bang to the already vaunted IUP rushing attack? Buy. The running attack should be a three headed monster

    4. DB J.R. Stevens is the next big thing on the IUP defense? sell. his numbers were so good last year because everyone avoided throwing near Redfield. This year he will be the one they avoid, and his numbers will not be as good.

    5. IUP will advance to at least a national championship game appearance in 2018?
Sell - I think they are odds on to repeat the regional, but takes more than a bit of luck to get into the national cheampionship. But, if people stay healthy, keep their heads on straight, why not.

    1. BUY: Tort was the 'spark' the program needed. Aside from the on-field success, last year saw the best atmospheres at Miller in decades. Although many of those were Curt's players, it was a different team. Attendance was also way up. The official gate announcements were full of you know what. I've been going to games there for 30 years ... those were some of the biggest crowds in a long time. It will grow even more next year. The program was very 'stuffy' and 'stale' under Curt. That all changed last season.

    2. SELL: The Harlon Hill is a video game stat contest. IUP will run far too much for Lenny to have the Madden numbers.

    3. BUY: Temple was the one missing piece last year ... the 'muscle'. How many times did IUP struggle at the goal line last year ... lots. Temple (and Harris) fixes that real quick.

    4. PASS: There are several near breakout stars on defense. Max made them all look good last year.

    5. PASS: IUP should enter as the clear favorite to again win SR1. Beyond that ... hard to say. The trip to Ashland is the only game that matters right now.

Harlon Hill?! If IUP decided to be a pass first offense through Lenny you guys wouldn't even sniff the playoffs
