Funny, despite working outdoors and in a truck with basically no heat, I have never truly hated winter. Though I still dislike summer much more (I get too hot too easy) I can feel myself slowly morphing to the norm. I dont know what it is about this winter but I've really struggled.

Moon spoke a little bit about the projects getting the final OK from the governor and how we should be on the new football field by 2021. President Downs said they should be at the new $55 million dollar goal by this fall.

When asked about future projects, Josh was clear the focus was on finishing the current project. After that they do have tentative plans first for an indoor practice facility for all sports to use and then also over time different renovations to the Barnett Center will take place. If they could get a facility to hold an indoor track they BC could focus on permanent seating and they could do some really nice things in there.

Are you going to move to Division 1 with your brothers to the South.

South Dakota, eight classes of HS football and four D1 schools. What a world, haha

A bit of bad news...we have a wrestling tourney and baptism this Saturday so I will not be back in Aberdeen. Are you going to be up in Moorhead? I've considered the possibility of meeting you up there and harassing our Dragon poster friends in person

No, and now if your not going I may pass also since my dreams of a possible conference title showdown have gone by the wayside. I've also got a foot issue going on that its probably best if I stay close to home anyway.

Sorry I broke your heart. And maybe if you hadn't been showing someone how to do the Margenthaler stomp your foot would be just fine.

You are welcome to come to the baptism and watch the game at the house with me after. I'm sure I'll have no problem explaining to the in-laws how I know the guy up front that has been trash talking the alter kids all through mass.

Can’t sleep and saw the SMSU thread discussing their Mt Rushmore of players so I thought I’d steal it. Northern has quite a list to choose from. My list is a combination of perusing the record books and stories from different generations of NSU fans.

Eric Kline - I think he would be a unanimous choice among any who has followed Wolves basketball. The schools all time leading scorer

Scott Basanko - I’ve heard many old timers say he was the best scorer they’ve ever seen.

Ryan Miller - I don’t know how many times I’ve heard the story of him going off to beat SDSU in the regional and letting the Jackrabbit fans know it was over.

Kevin Ratzch - Probably the best Northern player in recent memory

There are too many others to mention, but I’d be curious to see what others think.

I'd replace Ratzch with Gary Evjen personally but th others I'm in full agreement.

I would also replace Kevin Ratzch. I don't think Kevin really ever wowed me with his skill set, was just very good at all the fundamentals. He was about all we had his senior year. I would put Matt Hammer up there to replace him. Hammer's stats aren't as loud, but I feel like Hammer had to share with a higher quality supporting cast and had more of an ability to take control of a game. I don't date back to the late 60s/early 70s when Evjen played, but I feel like in his final year he may have been the best of a not very good team. As a side note, I would like to put some shade on the records in general. How does Evjen not have a points per game season above 20 and no top 10 season total points, but has a career average of 22 and number 3 overall scoring?

I was just going to say....Hammer has to be in consideration. Can you put the 17-18 duo of Doyle/Evans in at one spot?

And while we decided on the SMSU Rushmore not to include coaches, I think strong consideration would have to be given to Olson and/or Meyer.

    No need for stories: https://youtu.be/KMRSCptMuCo
For me it isn't the same as the Rob Waltman radio call. I would pay a lot of money to have that recording.

This question sparked a couple of things as I've been looking at things the past couple of days.

-How much potential did Jared Miller have? Wow, 20 per game as a Sophomore on a 21-7 team. Really wish he and Don would have worked out.

-what video of NSU basketball is out there from years past?

This is a gem, wish the guy would have recorded Northern's starting lineup. Nice Sarge Grimes ally oop at about 10:30 mark. Great representation of the crowd and noise at an inconsequential game in November back then. This is just prior to where my memory reaches. The names Boike, Moore, and Upgren don't hold a lot of meaning for me, but Gödel, Vietor and Grimes do.

Game at Winona the same year.

Obviously a bunch from last year and recent years. Anyone know of video from 2005-06?

Wachs, Olson, Meyer, Frederickson if you can combine mens and womens

When I was coming up with my list it was either Ratzch or Hammer and I picked Kevin because the 2008 team was a little better than 2006. But Hammer was an absolute stud. The 2018 team is kind of crazy that it doesn't really have anyone you would consider for this list, but probably had 4 or 5 of the top 25 players in NSU history. As for coaches, Northern has been pretty blessed with some good ones. A couple of really long runs, but 4 coaches over 64 years and counting is pretty impressive, with only 10 losing seasons.

Your loss was our gain....pretty good role player off the bench for us on the Elite Eight team.

Good list. Other names for consideration:

Kevin King - 3 time all conference with MVP one year. Also All-American his jr. year.
Kevin Burckhard - He's one of my all-time favorites but I believe he only played at NSU 2 years. Was all conference and All-American both years.
