    Interesting Men's final tonight.

If you go with the notion you can't shoot well forever, ... Ship is due for an off night. The Red Raiders lit up the nets against West Liberty -- firing in 59 percent from the field including 48 percent from deep. Ship also out-rebounded WL, 36-17. The hot shooting continued against VSU, as it hit 52 percent from the field and 45 percent from deep -- including winning the boards 33 to 24. Justin McCarthur is 13 for 18 on treys in the past two games.

Go back a third game, however (Gannon loss) and Ship's performance was way different (41% FG, 30% deep, and out-rebounded by 17).

No denying Shippensburg is playing lights out the past two games, but, it has been sporadic at times this season.

ESU and Ship split the season series. Each won on their home floor. ESU won in early January (79-70) and Shippensburg won in late January (89-64).

For the season, ESU is averaging a PSAC-best 92.9 ppg. Shippensburg is averaging 81.1 ppg. The Red Raiders, however, are giving up just 70.2 ppg to ESU's 78.5 ppg.

ESU hasn't lost since Jan. 31 ... having reeled off 12 straight wins. Shippensburg is 6-4 against ESU in the past 10 meetings in the series with four of the games being decided by 5 points or less.

Lots of stats and facts there to digest. Neither has ever won a regional title. While Dustin Sleva has deservedly stole a lot of the headlines this past weekend, don't forget about ESU's 'big guy' Steve Harris. Harris, my opinion, is one of the more underrated players in the PSAC. In the first two games of the regional he went for 18.5 ppg and 7 rpg.

Tough call. Will the law of averages catch up and the rim shrink on the Ship? Or, do they remain red hot?

In both meetings this year, Sleva and McCarthur had big games. Tonight is the biggest game of the season (so far). And, on the big stage, there's nobody you'd rather have than Sleva. Pure ice. Shippensburg gets the tough win tonight. Red Raiders -3.5

Honestly, and I mean absolutely no snark by this, I can't recall taking particular notice of Harris when they played at Heiges. And Sleva's outrebounded him 21-10 in their first two meetings.

McCarthur is going to make a difference in this one, for good or for bad. 57 points in the teams' first two meetings, 54 in two regional games. But he's averaging 16.9 on the season, which shows that he can blow very cold, too.

I know what you mean. I commented once about ESU that despite playing 10 to 12 guys ... after five minutes have gone by you really can't tell who are the starters and who came off the bench. That's a tribute to a very deep, quality roster.

Harris is tough, though. With their rotation he only averages about 25 minutes per game (this season). If he was on many other teams and played 32-35 minutes a game his stats would likely be much bigger.

The first two regional games he logged 22.5 minutes on average. He fits their system very well. He's big and strong but can move well. A traditional center would have trouble keeping up with that pace. It will be interesting to see if both Harris and Sleva can stay clean tonight. That's a massive factor in this one.

After seeing Ship just destroy WL's press, that's another item I'm looking forward to watching tonight. Ship's PG, Connor, is really an unsung player.

The old adage ... you can't stay cold forever and you can't stay hot forever.

Sleva is going to get his 20 or 25. There's not much anybody can do about that element. Curious how they'll game-plan for McCarthur tonight -- especially after he went bonkers on them the last meeting.

... can't wait to watch it.

Would really love the announcer to realize it's not Dustin SYLVIA.

1-for-2 from the floor for McCarthur at halftime. That must change.

True but Ship survived the run.

ESU really selling out on McCarthur. Fite will adjust some stuff.

I thought Sleva did force some shots down the stretch, almost playing "hero" ball....instead of making the extra pass...

Congrats to East Stroudsburg from the hilltop. Incredible mental discipline down the stretch. Best of luck in Sioux Falls.

No shame for Ship. Great game between two really good basketball teams.

Mccarthur goes 4-6 from 3 point range, and Sleva shoots 1-8. Why the biggest guy on the court is not shooting around the basket? Harris MVP.

You haven't been watching all season. Sleva is as deadly as anyone on the team but for McCarthur from outside the arc. The threat of him floating out to the perimeter helped make that offense.

Hey, PSAC title one year, Sweet Sixteen the next. Anyone in their right mind would take that. Kinda sad to think I'll probably never see Sleva play again, though.

Great run by Ship this year unfortunately a trip to SD wasn't in the cards but nothing to hang their heads on they had a hell of a season advancing further than any other team in school history. Simply put they ran out of gas and I suspect Sleva will take his talents abroad next season and maybe in 2-3 years he'll come back to the states and play in the NBA G-League after gaining a few pounds and getting some professional experience overseas while making a good amount of money doing it over there. The G-League by then will probably be paying 35k per year and I think he'll get a 70-100k a year contract overseas this summer with the right agent to market his talent.

In summary, that was one dynamic five-man lineup. Every one dangerous. They'll be remembered.
