The Men win their game against SBU. The offense produced 26 assists on 31 baskets.

The best coaches have teams that play their best ball at the end of the season. Drury will be in the hunt in the end.

The Lady Panthers are number 1 in the nation in six statistical categories including:
    Assists per game (22)
    Steals per game (17.8)
    Total steals (142)
    Turnover margin (13.63)
    Turnovers forced per game (31.88)
They are also ranked number 6 in the nation.
There are only 3 upperclassmen on this team, including a returning all conference player who has not played a game yet this season.

  4. Default Re: Drury Panthers

Four. You are probably forgetting Brooke Stanfield. There is only one Sr on the team and she hasn’t played yet. They have four signed for next year which the coaching staff is indicating may be their best class yet since Molly took control of the program.

  5. Default Re: Drury Panthers

I did forget Brooke. Her valuable contribution off the bench is a major plus for this team.
The ladies are number 4 in the national poll this week. They will have to back this lofty ranking up when they get into conference play against the likes of Lewis, USI and Bellarmine.
Hopefully the men can put together a string of victories. I see a player transferred to SBU of all places.

    Drury loses to Barry 82-81.

Big time travel issues on the way down there. Team was supposed to leave Friday afternoon out of Springfield - had 2 flights canceled in Springfield due to weather. Drove to St Louis and spent the night. Got up at 3am to be at the airport for a 5:30 flight. That flight got canceled. Caught a 7:30am flight to New York City, barely made the connection to Miami, got into Miami at 6pm last night. Ended up traveling for about 30 hours and then had to play Barry 18 hours after arriving.

Got down 22 in the second half and came all the way back to take the lead late. Barry makes 1 of 2 free throws with 2.5 seconds left for the difference. Drury banks in a 30 footer at the buzzer, but didn't get it off in time. Everything considered, showed some major grit.

Trying to figure out what the problem is with Drury. 7 losses, 6 of them are one possession (or overtime) games. Have to be able to win at least some of the close games. That is not a complete explanation, however, because some of those close games are games that Drury should be able to win more comfortably. Believe it or not, they may still be able to make a run that gets them in the NCAA.

There hasn't been just one thing...it's been everything you can imagine. Poor play at times, injuries, sickness, ridiculous travel woes, bad officiating - you name it, this team has been through it since November 1.

Drury has now lost 8 games by a combined 20 points, and one of those was an OT game. If you take that out, in regulation this year it's been 8 games by a combined 14 points. They put together 3 really good halves of basketball in a row this weekend, though. Played very well in the second half against Indy, just missed some open shots or it would've been 2 victories over what are probably the 2nd and 3rd best teams in the conference. They really exercised some demons against Lewis...DU beat them every way possible. I haven't seen that big an a$$ kicking against a talented team since Bellarmine's laugher over USI in the regional in '13. Just need to keep it going and turn the corner.

I watched the 2nd half of the Indy game. As a neutral observer I can say that Drury got hosed on the foul call at the end of the game.

Horrible call with just a few seconds left to play. Indy player 1. was out of control and 2. didn't have possession of the ball as it got poked loose.

The quality of officiating in this conference is poor overall, and worse on the west side of the conference. Not that they need it, but Bellarmine isn't getting that called on them in the last few seconds of the game on their home floor....not 1 chance in a million.

Drury still has plenty to play for. They may not be able to get ranked in the top eight of the region, but right now, they have a real shot at the GLVC tournament championship. They may well end the regular season on a ten game win streak.

I actually don't think it's that far-fetched to see Drury in the top-8 this week. Four of their 10 losses (West Texas, Concordia CA, Azusa Pacific, and Barry) don't count as regional losses, and they now have two wins against UMSL, a road win at USI, and a 40-point (I know, margin doesn't matter) home win against the probable #1 in Lewis. Their biggest problem is that four of their wins are negated also (St. Mary, William Woods, Central Christian, St. Thomas) so that hurts the W/L% from the other side, and the home loss to Upper Iowa isn't pretty. But, this year in particular, when you're looking at 7-8-9-10, there's going to be a bit more "ugly" than maybe in years past.

Drury....the team everyone is hoping doesn’t get in as they can beat anyone in this field.

    yes to that

They really could throw a wrench in things here at the end. But I also think a lot of these teams could this year. Even Rockhurst could be a threat this year come tourney time. They only lost by 3 at Lewis...that's closer than BU or USI got.

What's really bizarre about Drury is not how many games they are out of being ranked toward the top of the region, but how many game points they are missing it by.

Drury is currently 5-5 against ranked teams, but is 4-2 against ranked teams in this region, including a win over the likely new #1. They were 1 point away from being 5-1 against ranked teams in this region (1 pt loss to Indy), and 5 points (in regulation) from being 9-1 against ranked teams from every region. We lost to 4 ranked teams by a combined 5 points in regulation. At Bellarmine is the only ranked game we've lost by more than 1 possession.

Although by that rationale, WJ is a threat as they beat Lewis! Which is a bit of a draw back for Lewis. Their losses were to three unranked teams(well Drury may get there but Northern may drop out) which is quite odd for #1 seed.
