Default WJU Starting Football - Reaffirms Their Commitment to MEC

WJU announced they will be starting a football program next season and further reaffirmed their commitment to the MEC:

Doesn't seem like they are going anywhere.

Good for them. I honestly never believed the NAIA/D3 rumors that a few MEC posters were throwing out there. WJU has a really nice all-sports athletic department.

Hearing that the MEC is talking to a new school, as well. Sounds like they may be in the business of expansion after all.

We'll see how those talks go but I wouldn't be surprised. Has to be a good fit for all parties involved. The big sticking point to MEC expansion was WJU starting football. Now that that is going to happen, it will be interesting to see if the MEC starts to become more aggressive in expansion. I personally think any expansion will come in two groups of two (two in 18 and two in 19). 16 teams is the next logical conference size point which would allow the MEC to break into two 8 team divisions with each school playing 7 in division games, 3 OOC games and 1 championship week game were the 1's from each division play, the 2's play, 3's play, etc.
