    Default Whats new at SFU

Good update on SFU from the student newspaper. http://www.the-peak.ca/2017/04/mens-...make-playoffs/

They have signed a 6'9" kid from Oregon http://athletics.sfu.ca/news/2017/4/...px?path=mbball

The signed a shooter from Washington http://athletics.sfu.ca/news/2017/4/...px?path=mbball

Coach Hanson states in the article that getting top local talent is a top priority but they have beaten badly by UBC in getting the top local players. He also talks about how much better they will be with all of the returning players but if you are counting on guys who have won a grand total of 3 league games in two years I think it could be another tough year for the Clan.

Oregon kid a nice get for SFU, nice numbers and plays for an excellent Oregon prep program.

Thanks for sharing. I think SFU will be better next year, but if everyone else gets better, it might not translate into the wins that Hanson wants to get... Seems like about half the league brings back a lot next year and will also likely be better and the other half of the league doesn't bring back much and will be huge question marks going into the season. I think at this point, having a stable coaching staff and bringing back their experience--the coaches in the GNAC will know that they should not be overlooked at all. It was a great way to end the season last year with a win against SPU and end their (SPU) play-off hopes.

Finally got to see SFU play last night and for a half they looked really good but it all fell apart in the second half. WOU can really really shoot the ball and they were raining threes allover the court. SFU started the year with some real wins even beating Hawaii Hilo who beat WWU. They have now lost 3 in a row so their game Saturday against Concordia is big for them. Looking at their schedule however they are playing a bunch of local College teams it seems to pad their win total. I wish they would play UBC and some of the better Canadian University teams but I guess they are pretty desperate to get some wins. On a positive note they had a big crowd last night and a marching band and drum line it was a good environment. Usually it is pretty dead up there I hope they keep these promotions going.

Opening with WOU is a really hard one. SFU is much better than they have been... They will get some league wins this year-probably more than last and right now it's looking like UAF may replace them in the basement. I'm glad they are getting a crowd going there.
