After being picked to win the NSIC in the preseason poll, for the Mavs to be on the road for the first round of the playoffs is disappointing to say the least.

It is. Amazingly, in the unlikely event they win two games this weekend, they would have the same record in the conference they did at this time in 2016. Have to get some momentum going now if they hope to finish in the top four of the South Division, and get a home playoff game.

I don't understand why you guys are concerned about Mankato being at home for the NSIC Tournament. They're 4-4 at home this year and 7-2 on the road, including the rare, borderline-impossible road sweep of MSU-Moorhead and Northern State.

If anything, it would seem you guys might want a first round road game based on what the Mavs have shown so far this season.

You have a point, based on what has happened this season to date. However, I am still a believer in home-floor advantage overall; and the avoidance of a very long trip, i.e., Minot or Bismarck.

Purely selfish reasons. I want to go to the game. I don't think that I'll drive to Minot in the middle of the week.

They were one of the reasons I mentioned only the top two in region as "locks" I wouldn't be shocked if Mankato or even Winona put together a tourney run. Though not likely, this year of all years it has potential.

Speaking of that- Is the entire weekend Hawaiian Night(s) or just one night? I won't be going to UMC or BSU this weekend either. I missed out last Sat.

This is starting to look like the year that the winner of the conference tourney will be someone that needs it to make the regional

Might as well just give it to Augie or Sioux Falls... ;)

The tourney might actually be very entertaining and competitive this year.

As may NSU, they are 5-4 at home and 9-1 on the road with the only loss at Augie.

We all know they have talent, and that alone could make it happen. This year seems pretty wide open for the most part. I'm not saying go bet the savings account, simply that it wouldn't shock me.
