The kid from Cannon-Mac, Milligan, is a nice player. I saw him play a couple times. That's three out of Cal's backyard. Of course, they did very well in the WPIAL this past recruiting season.

    Five QBs?

Throw enough against the wall and see what sticks? Are there none from the past year returning? I don't think I've ever seen one recruiting class with five QBs. Is the thought that they'll be converted to other positions?

They have several QB's coming back from last year. I have no idea what's going on. They will have 7 or 8 on the roster!!!!!

3 currently as far as I know, a couple of those I could see being moved around but not many, I guess Conwell has been harder to replace then they thought

Well, WLUs returning QBs have hardly "killed it" in their very limited play last year. Seems like they are hunting so any of these QBs have potential to necome QB1.

Several of these cats are very athletic so I wouldnt be surprised if they shift positions. WLU has produced some pretty good receivers who started their college careers as QBs.

I kind of like Wittiker the JUCO. Dont want to put undue pressure on him but if you compare his highlight tape to Amedro's and they look very similar. Move around and out of the pocket well...even when flushed, hes looking to throw first...accurate throwing on the move...seems unafraid to throw into a tight window.

The glut of QB's recruited this year actually accentuates something that I consider to be a problem in recruiting. WLU seems to wait until they have a critical position need before they recruit to that position. QB is a great example but it has happened before at other position groups. Ideally, you should be bring in a freshman QB every year. That way you have a pipeline of players who are experienced in your offense to replace a graduated starter. While I'm hopeful we have a quality player among the seven QB's we will have in camp and probably at least two of the QB's will ultimately change positions, that means we will have FOUR backups. No way four backups are going to stay in the program particularly if a freshman wins the QB1 job.

Sure, recruiting is an inexact science and in the big scheme of things most players don't live up to their hype, but IMHO when done right it is a multi year process were you identify team needs two to three years out and recruit to meet those projected needs years before they become critical.

Can you really bring in a QB in the summer or fall practice and think they will be effective for that first game? L D Crowe a prime example. D1 QB transferring in the summer and people think we have the next Amedro. You know how that worked out!

Its hard to come in over the summer and put up good numbers as a transfer QB. Amedro was certainly the exception at WLU...Crow and LaGarde were transfers and lets just say their play was somewhat "uneven" (Im beeing nice!!). Conwell on the other hand was at least compitent his first year.

Im not saying Whitaker is going to be anything like Amedro...just saying his highlight tape looks alot like Amedro's.

To be honest with you, i'd be pretty happy if whomever the starting QB is puts up similar numbers to Conwell's first season. My worst nightmare is a repeat of Crow's first year!!!

That is the million dollar question. We seem to wait to recruit QB's until AFTER the incumbent has left. While Amedro worked out great, he came in to WLU AFTER Gullion (and Darrah) had graduated...Crow (and Lagarde) came to WLU AFTER Amedro had graduated. Only exception was when Conwell fell into our lap in in 2014, he was able to supplant Lagarde.

Equally frustrating was 2013. Finally had a good D but had an O that scored 8 passing TD's (12 total TD's) ALL YEAR!!! AND we gave up 6 pick-6's...JE$US...that was painful to watch!!!!
