  1. Re: Wayne State announces addition of Beach Volleyball

I guess you missed this part of the above press release

Wayne State College will compete as an independent member of the National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Association and joins the University...

Re: 2019 SMSU Mustangs: Let's ride!

In some ways, I feel like it's the end of an era. Not just of Gimbel, but the run of QBs we've had, from Shudlick to Ratekin to Peschong to Kern to Gimbel (that's 14 years!). Maybe one of the guys...
  3. Re: A bit off-topic, WSC reinstating women's golf

So nice to see schools adding programs instead of cutting them. Says something about the relative health of the conference and its members.
  4. Re: A bit off-topic, WSC reinstating women's golf

She knows SMSU has women's golf, right? ;)

I'll be honest, I have kinda tuned out listening to those. Watched the first week or so, but only one or two since.

    2019 SMSU Mustangs: Let's ride!

New season upcoming, so best to make a new thread so certain people can stop complaining.

Should be an interesting season, not sure what to expect.
  7. Re: Brag about the schools, the culture, and the NSIC

Absolutely. I even found myself rooting for Winona during their title runs (but don't tell anyone).
  8. Re: 2018-2019 NSIC All-Sports Award FINAL STANDINGS

This is an important point. UMC's closest UMAC opponent would be Morris at nearly 165 miles, nearly a 3-hour drive.
  9. Re: 2018-2019 NSIC All-Sports Award FINAL STANDINGS

It may be hard to believe, but UMC is making progress in some sports. Look at the strides UMC has made in men's basketball. Its baseball program was 29-427 (.064) over a 10-year period, but is...
  10. Re: 2018-2019 NSIC All-Sports Award FINAL STANDINGS

Not a surprise, as they have the bigger departments.

    Re: UST

A couple things stick out about UIU....

Football has the fifth-most expenses in the conference
It's a small budget, but UIU is one of only two schools that have a men's soccer team.
    Wrestling...

    Re: UST

Most of them are still a ways off. I think to be competitive, the goal would be in the $15 million range at worst, which still puts you at the bottom of the Dakota schools. When you take hockey out...

    Re: UST

The ONLY plus for them to make a move would be the increase in competition level. They have a pretty great situation right now in the GPAC. Not only is it a good level for them, but they're pretty...
  18. Re: Brag about the schools, the culture, and the NSIC

Save for one year of college in Fargo, Marshall is by far the biggest city I've ever lived in. Context is everything.

It really just comes down to what your son is looking for in a college experience. One of the great things about the NSIC is that you get a really nice mixture of all the different types of college...
