Couldn’t agree more. Soy was great, but he was still someone who was an elite D2 kind of talent but JB was truly something special. Only other two...

The type of guys you are talking don’t go D2. There are exceptions to this rule, of course (John Brown), but it’s pretty rare.

Exactly. Schmidt had what had to be the sickest catch in D2NCG history.

What are you hearing about Bolles?
  2. I remember that day! Was a good day, too! Yes, when I go to games, I do sit up there most of the time.

Thank you for the kind words....still getting my feet wet, and hope to do some more in depth stuff next year, but I'm really enjoying doing this so far!
  3. Howdy! BC Dude introduced us down at Tahlequah a couple of years ago. Do you sit up in EE with all the regulars? I'm over in Section C with the family and older alumni and townies (I fit all three categories!).

Keep up the good work. If you want some photos sometime let me know. I have a decent camera and photo pass for home games.

The MIAA gets Bulldogged again, and Bowl Game Previews

by Ian Carlson on 12-01-2018 at 01:18 AM
For the second straight year (and third in the last five seasons) the MIAA was kept out of the Regional Finals. From 2004-2013, the MIAA had at least one team make it that far and on five occasions, both of the regional finalists hailed from the conference. It’s been two years since the latest regional realignment that placed the GLIAC and MIAA into the same region, and the GLIAC has had the upper hand thus far (even with NWMSU’s win at Grand Valley State). Ferris State has knocked out the

A Return Trip to Michigan

by Ian Carlson on 11-23-2018 at 10:13 PM
In true MIAA fashion this year, the first round of the playoffs ended with a couple surprises. Two-time defending MIAA champion Fort Hays State fell to GLVC Champion Indianapolis, while Northwest Missouri State took advantage of some poor tackling by Grand Valley State to literally run away with the game in the second half. Here’s what happened:

Fort Hays State 27
Indianapolis 38

The Tigers rolled into Indianapolis riding a five game winning streak that included

Turning the Page from the Regular Season to the Postseason

by Ian Carlson on 11-16-2018 at 12:33 AM
The final week of the regular season went like much of the rest of the season, in that there were some surprising results. When all of the dust settled, five teams will be playing post season football, with two teams making the field of 28 teams in the playoffs, and three other teams being selected for bowl games. Oddly enough, the bowl game that had had the longest relationship with the MIAA ended up being the only bowl that did not select a team from the conference, as the Mineral Water Bowl

The Final Week of a Wild Regular Season

by Ian Carlson on 11-10-2018 at 12:53 AM
Just when I thought I might have put my finger on the pulse of the league, last week happens and and once again chaos reigned supreme. The only uncompetitive games this week were the ones expected to be, and the other four on the slate were great games to watch. Say what you want about the quality of the league this year, there is no denying it has been an entertaining year this season. Here’s how Week 10 went down:

Missouri Western State 25
Nebraska Kearney 17

MIAA Title on the Line and Playoff Implications in Week 10

by Ian Carlson on 11-02-2018 at 10:59 PM
As the calendar flips to November, the end of the regular season draws near. However, that also means the postseason is right around the corner. Just two more weekends and then the second season will begin for at least one MIAA team, and bowl games will await those that just missed the dance. It’s been a bit of a wild and relatively unpredictable season so far in 2018, and the final push ought to make for an exciting finish. This week, we’ll take a look back at last week’s games (and a
