Week 11: The Post Season Picture

The post season picture for the GAC is more or less set where the playoffs are concerned, however, the bowl games are another matter. Here is a breakdown of the post season picture for the GAC:

Henderson is in win or lose. However, as long as the Reddies win they will at least maintain their 4th place seeding and home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. If Henderson loses, they will drop in the Regional Rankings but should still make the playoffs,

Week 10

Henderson kept its playoff hopes alive with a 76-7 whipping of Southern Nazarene. Arkansas Tech gave themselves a chance with a 53-21 win over Northwestern Oklahoma. Harding on the other hand ended their playoff hopes with a 21-13 loss at Southwestern Oklahoma. If Henderson wins this week they will lock up a playoff spot. If Arkansas Tech wins this week against Southwestern Oklahoma they continue to keep their playoff hopes alive and will be in the driver’s seat for the Live United Bowl.

2017 Football Regional Realignment’s impact on the GAC

The current regional alignment for football will be changing. The D2 Management Council made it official. The GAC will be staying in Super Region 3 with the MIAA and will see the arrival of the GLIAC and the GLVC. Starting in 2017 the new football regional realignment will look like the following:
Super Region 1: GMAC, MEC, NE-10, PSAC
Super Region 2: CIAA, GSC*, SIAC, SAC
Super Region 3: GAC, GLIAC*, GLVC, MIAA*
Super Region 4: GNAC, LSC, NSIC*, RMAC

Week 9: Jockeying for the Post-Season begins in earnest

The first regional rankings came out yesterday (Monday) and Henderson was ranked 4th. Here are the full first week of regional rankings for SR3:

  1. Northwest Missouri
  2. Humboldt
  3. Sioux Falls
  4. Henderson
  5. Emporia
  6. Minn. St.-Mankato
  7. Augustana
  8. Southwest Minnesota
  9. Minn.-Duluth
  10. Central Missouri

Week 8: The Reddies stand alone…for now

Just when you think you may have a pulse on how the season is likely to finish in the GAC, teams go out and surprise you. As it stands now in the GAC, Henderson sits atop the conference alone and controls their own destiny. Win out and the Reddies win the GAC and go to the playoffs. Arkansas Tech, East Central, Harding and Southern Arkansas still have an outside shot at the playoffs with the way things have gone in the wider region.
