Sorry for posting this on the football board, but this gets the most traffic. With the late signing period I believe come and gone, I was wondering if anyone had information on basketball recruiting?

I know a little: According to CBSsports.com's extensive transfer list, CWU landed a 6-10 post transfer from Montana State. He is from the state of Washington. SPU signed two big guys and I've heard a shooting guard from the University of Idaho might transfer in. WWU will get WSU's fine point guard, Reggie Moore, next year. He was booted from WSU, but he is a good player. WOU has listed nothing yet and I believe they need some help, particularly at post. Any new info would be great -- thanks!

After a little research, I'm optimistic the GNAC isn't that far off in some areas to becoming a very strong, national conference. I started with facilities. Now if you want to get humbled, go to Grand Valley's website: impressive indoor track/practice facility, all kinds of amenities.

I picked two national powers and recent national champions, Pittsburg State and NW Missouri. I was comparing them to CWU, WOU, and HSU, places I've been to. (Sorry Dixie, SFU, Azusa)

Pitt State has a mind-blowing 8,500-seat football stadium. It's very impressive, looks like a I-AA stadium as if it holds more, but is a comfortable 8K-plus. It just looks great. It didn't appear (they don't have a facilities page) that they have separate, fancy football training facilities or indoor practice areas, but I'm not sure. They had a campaign to upgrade their basketball arena, not sure that went through. It appeared to be in the 2,500 range, much like WOU and CWU. I think HSU is a bit bigger, perhaps 4K, I need to re-check that.

NW Missouri has a nice stadium that holds 6,500. It doesn't seem like they have Grand Valley-type amenities, though I'm not sure. Their hoops arena was only at 2,500.

I came away thinking WOU and CWU in particular, need to upgrade football stadiums. WOU is at 2,500 and it looks small. I'd like to see WOU get to 4,500-5,000. I don't think it would take much, perhaps building on the other side or just expanding the current one. CWU's stands are a bit dated. They need some upgrading. With their success, they should probably be at 6K. Not sure on CWU's field, but WOU is in need of field turf.

The Redwood Bowl competes well at 7K, and is arguably the nicest game-day stadium in the GNAC. (Again, I haven't seen Dixie's, SFU's, or Azusa's.) Dixie claims 10K on the stadium site, hard for me to believe as it's only on one side of the stadium and it doesn't look that big. Perhaps they bring out portables on game day. Based on their hoop attendance this year, I'd guess Dixie has the best basketball arena in the GNAC ... though they don't play in the GNAC for hoop.

My take is you don't have to be glitzy or fancy in D2 to be good, but you have to have solid facilities, which NW Missouri and Pitt State definitely have.
