Braves, Winston-Salem State To Battle On National Television

INDIANAPOLIS – The UNCP football team will welcome a national television audience to Pembroke on September 5 when the Braves suit up to battle in-state nemesis and national runner-up Winston-Salem State in their season opener at Grace P. Johnson Stadium.

The contest is one of six included as part of the regular season football package put together by NCAA Division II and the CBS Sports Network (Time Warner Cable 537, DirecTV 613). It will mark the first national television appearance for any of UNCP's 16 varsity athletic teams, while the Rams will play in front of a national television audience for the third time.

To accommodate the television broadcast, the game will now kick off at 8 p.m.

The September 5 game will mark the only non-conference battle on the 8-game schedule and will kick off the Division II football package. NCAA Super Region II foes West Alabama and Florida Tech out of the Gulf South Conference will square off on the network in mid-September.
