OT - Cutting my Beard?!?

Howdy,
I recently decided to participate in the Moving Day Kansas City Walk event on June 15, 2013. I am doing this walk for several reasons:

1) in memory of my grandfather, Henry Frohling, who had Parkinson's in the 1950's. He participated in experimental brain surgery in 1958 to try to cure PD. Brain Surgery in '58 was not what it is today, and it ended up doing more harm than good. But out of those experiments, came the procedure that we now know as Deep Brain Stimulation which has helped thousands of PD patients.

2) one of my friends, Brian Stewart (who is the Captain of the team I am on, and a fellow poster on here) has recently announced that he is living with Parkinson's Disease.

3) if I raise $500 I will trim up my beard - which hasn't seen a razor in almost a year. If I raise $1000 I will shave it off completely - which hasn't happened since August 2005.

Those of you who know me, know that I always have a full beard, so the thought of cutting it off kind of freaks me out a little - but it's going to a good cause.

If you would be interested in sponsoring me, you can visit my fundraising page to make the donation online, or PM me and I can give you my address if you want to send a check.

The National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) continues to bring help and hope to the estimated one million people in the United States, four to six million worldwide, who are living with Parkinson’s disease. NPF is the only organization with a singular focus on improving the quality of care in Parkinson’s disease. NPF programs reach more than one million people a year through its network of 39 chapters, 43 Centers of Excellence and 900 support groups. Since 1982, NPF has funded more than $172 million in care, research and support services.
