Super Regional 1 Championship Weekend

Slippery Rock football is on a remarkable run late this season, the #7 seeded Rock has already won two games on the road during this playoff run. After two long trips to the northeast to flush out the NE10 schools from the postseason the Rock gets a much shorter trip this weekend. The undefeated and top seeded Falcons of Notre Dame College await the Rock this weekend.

Game Capsule

• The Rock looks to advance to the NCAA national semi final next weekend as they travel to South Euclid Ohio this weekend to play the top seeded and undefeated Falcons of Notre Dame College. The Falcons survived last weekend with a huge defensive stand over upset minded Hillsdale College. NDC survived 19-14 to get the honor of hosting the regional championship. Slippery Rock made a second long road trip last weekend this time it was to New Haven Connecticut, UNH was less of a challenge for the road warrior Rock as SRU advanced with a 59-20 dominating performance. A few key stats before the teams play on the field this weekend, SRU averages 38.8 ppg compared to 34.1 for NDC. SRU allows 21.2 NDC 17.4 ppg. The key position groups will the secondary of NDC, if the Falcons can slow the Rolland Rivers led passing attack the Falcons will have a chance to compete. Slippery Rock will look to slow the strong rushing attack of Notre Dame College, is averaging almost 275 yards per game on the ground. The game is schedule for a noon kickoff from Mueller Field, the stadium only hold 1500 fans, last weekend it looked as if they added some portable bleachers on the visitor side so I would guess the capacity is closer to 2000 for this game. For the Slippery Rock faithful this is a great chance to make the short drive just east of Cleveland, coming off of the 1700 miles on the road the last two weeks the Rock should be able to get out in great numbers this weekend. This should be a great chance for SRU to return to the NCAA semi final for the first time since 1998. The Pick SRU 31 NDC 17

This has been a great playoff run for the Slippery Rock program, students, parents and alumni. Win or lose this weekend we should all be very proud of how they represented the league this season. Hopefully next week we will be previewing a NCAA Semi Final matchup, if we are not I will post the season ending PSAC Power Rankings, and try to begin my season reviews of all of the teams.

Best of luck to Rock this weekend make all of us in the PSAC Proud !
