  1. Thoughts on the Arrowhead game and a big Homecoming matchup in Pittsburg

In a week that saw several upsets among the D2Football.com Top 25 (Nos. 2, 4, 11, 16, 19, and 20 were all beaten by teams either ranked below them or not ranked at all), the MIAA stayed pretty much true to form. No real upsets, and even though many (myself included) thought the Lopers might get their first win of the season over Missouri Southern, it didn’t come as a huge shock when the Lions left Kearney with the win. If anything, the biggest shock of the week had to be the attendance at the ...

  2. Arrowhead Week, and Some Quick Hits Around the Region

College football is so much fun to follow in general, but D2 football, in my opinion, is made even more special because of the level of interaction that fans have with the teams. True, there aren’t 50,000+ fans screaming at the top of their lungs every down in D2, but the fact that, in most cases, you can go down on the field and shake hands with players and coaches is one of the reasons D2 football is so great. Despite those losses, neither team fell all the way out of the top 25, so there were no newcomers this week. As quiet as the Top 25 was, the MIAA had its share of drama in several games last week. ...

  4. An Early Look at How the MIAA Stacks Up in D2 and Family Week

After week 2 of the 2016 season, only three of the 12 MIAA teams remain unbeaten, and there are three teams still looking for their first win of the season. Northwest Missouri State, Central Missouri, and Missouri Western State are all 2-0 while Missouri Southern State, Nebraska Kearney, and, a bit surprisingly, Central Oklahoma are all 0-2 to start the season. At least one of the unbeaten teams will go down this week, as UCM and MWSU will face off in Spratt Stadium on Saturday in what is most ...

  5. An Intriguing Slate of Games in Week 2

Week One of the 2016 campaign is in the books, and with one exception, most of the teams on the winning side of the field won comfortably. The only matchup where it was anyone’s game late in the fourth quarter was down at The Jungle in Pittsburg, where the Mules broke a tie with under five minutes to go and held off the Gorillas for the win. All of the other games were decided by double digits. Here’s a quick recap of how the teams fared on Opening Day:

    Northeastern St. ...
