  1. 2018 MIAA Preview

It’s kind of hard to believe, but the offseason is just about over and Division II football is about to kick off its season. The MIAA had an uncharacteristic poor showing in then playoffs last year, but the good news is that it seems the overall field across the country is wide open, so the chances for a repeat of last year should be pretty slim. While the conference didn’t fare well in the playoffs, the MIAA went 4-0 in bowl games last year, so there is certainly something to build on around ...

  2. 2017 Comes to a Close

For just the second time since 2003, the MIAA season came to an end during the quarterfinals of the playoffs. It was also just the second time in that span where there was not a playoff game featuring an MIAA team and the last teams playing were in bowl games, with 2014 being the other year in that timeframe. Oddly enough, that year was also the first time since 2008 that we had a new National Champion in the division, and we are guaranteed to have a first time champion this year. It’s even ...

  3. The MIAA Goes Bowling and a Look Back at Playoff History

A magical season came to an end in Hays this past weekend, as the Tigers lost their first game of the season to Ferris State in the second round of the playoffs by a score of 31-21. Fort Hays State, playing in their first playoff game since 1995, hung tough for roughly the first 35 minutes of the game, as a 66 yard Kenneth Iheme TD run early in the third quarter cut the FSU lead to 10-7. But the bigger Bulldogs finally wore down the Tiger defense in the second half, scoring touchdowns on three ...

  4. The Second Season is Here!

With the conclusion of last week’s games, the season ended for half the conference. However, the teams in the other half of the twelve team conference are all guaranteed at least one more game, with two of them having the potential for more. Not only did Fort Hays State and Northwest Missouri State make it to the playoffs, but MIAA teams were selected in all four of the postseason bowls in D2---and not without a little bit of controversy. Central Missouri got the bid in the Mineral Water Bowl ...

  5. Another Wild Week and the Rise of Lindenwood

Since you are reading this, chances are football is your favorite sport. It certainly is mine, and has been since I was seven years old. Way back then (and we just won’t talk about how long ago that was--ha!), I fell in love with the NFL. While I still thoroughly enjoy watching the world’s best football players compete at the game’s highest levels on Sundays (and Mondays, and Thursdays--although I wish the latter would go away), there is just something that is really great about college ...
