  1. The MIAA gets Bulldogged again, and Bowl Game Previews

For the second straight year (and third in the last five seasons) the MIAA was kept out of the Regional Finals. From 2004-2013, the MIAA had at least one team make it that far and on five occasions, both of the regional finalists hailed from the conference. It’s been two years since the latest regional realignment that placed the GLIAC and MIAA into the same region, and the GLIAC has had the upper hand thus far (even with NWMSU’s win at Grand Valley State). Ferris State has knocked out the ...

  2. A Return Trip to Michigan

In true MIAA fashion this year, the first round of the playoffs ended with a couple surprises. Two-time defending MIAA champion Fort Hays State fell to GLVC Champion Indianapolis, while Northwest Missouri State took advantage of some poor tackling by Grand Valley State to literally run away with the game in the second half. Here’s what happened:

    Fort Hays State 27
    Indianapolis 38

  3. Turning the Page from the Regular Season to the Postseason

The final week of the regular season went like much of the rest of the season, in that there were some surprising results. When all of the dust settled, five teams will be playing post season football, with two teams making the field of 28 teams in the playoffs, and three other teams being selected for bowl games. Oddly enough, the bowl game that had had the longest relationship with the MIAA ended up being the only bowl that did not select a team from the conference, as the Mineral Water Bowl ...

  4. 2018 MIAA Preview

It’s kind of hard to believe, but the offseason is just about over and Division II football is about to kick off its season. The MIAA had an uncharacteristic poor showing in then playoffs last year, but the good news is that it seems the overall field across the country is wide open, so the chances for a repeat of last year should be pretty slim. While the conference didn’t fare well in the playoffs, the MIAA went 4-0 in bowl games last year, so there is certainly something to build on around ...

  5. 2017 Comes to a Close

For just the second time since 2003, the MIAA season came to an end during the quarterfinals of the playoffs. It was also just the second time in that span where there was not a playoff game featuring an MIAA team and the last teams playing were in bowl games, with 2014 being the other year in that timeframe. Oddly enough, that year was also the first time since 2008 that we had a new National Champion in the division, and we are guaranteed to have a first time champion this year. It’s even ...
