  1. Upset Saturday, Lincoln & Livingstone win, Chowan is definitely for real!

This past Saturday, I went 2-4 on my predictions. My worst week in the three years I have been writing for I give credit to the two schools that won this past weekend that no one expected them to win, and that's Lincoln and Livingstone.

Very rarely do I start off an article talking about either Lincoln or Livingstone, but you have to give both schools credit for their upset victories this past weekend.

Livingstone went on the road and upset Virginia ...

  2. St. Aug is for real, collision cource with WSSU, ECSU Vikings prevail

The first week of CIAA play is in the books. For those teams that scheduled some scally wag schools to pad up their records, the truth is starting to show that scheduling weak teams does not help your program. It might help the head coach, but it doesn't help the program.

Every school in the CIAA should take notice to what Elizabeth City State did last year/this year, and what St. Aug did this year. You cannot be afraid to play quality programs like Wingate, New Haven, Albany State, ...
  3. The rubber meets the road, CIAA conference games in full swing

It's time to see what teams are made of. Regardless of how you started the season, the road to Durham starts this week and everyone still has a chance. Even Livingstone can run the table and make it Durham. Not really, but my point is, everyone still has a chance to make it to the CIAA title game.

    Game of the Week

Bowie State (3-0) at St. Aug (2-1)

This past week, the Bowie State defined the "never quit" attitude. Down 17-0, the Bulldogs rallied ...

  4. WSSU, Virginia Union, and Bowie State all remain unbeaten, CIAA goes 3-9

After watching this weekends results of CIAA teams going 3-9 against out of conference foes (i went 11-1 on my predictions), I'm done complaining and asking the question, why? Let's focus on the upside and zoom into those teams that are doing well so far this season in Winston Salem State, Virginia Union, and Bowie State.

By now, its pretty well known that Winston Salem State is the power team in this conference. There's no stopping this Rams team. They have beaten two pretty good ...

  5. CIAA has a 4-6 record in out conference games, Week Two will be better

Opening weekend predictions are always tough to call. There is really no measuring stick to gauge a team other than what you read on the CIAA preseason media guide or if a team is returning a sizable amount of starting players from the previous season.

Considering my record this past weekend on my predictions, I was 5-6, but the conference went 4-6 against out of conference opponents. Well, lets just look at the positives and say there is some wiggle room for improvement for CIAA ...
