  1. Lenoir-Rhyne heads to Valdosta State for Super Region 2 Final

    Recapping Round Two

    Miracle at Moretz

When I describe what I do during the fall for Division II football (the blogging, photography, travel, social media, etc.) most people don’t get it. I guess it seems kind of silly to them. Why would I spend so much time driving around North and South Carolina going to small college games that very few people care about, for schools I have no connection to. I guess I can see that. On the surface it doesn’t seem to make much sense. Back ...

  2. Bears and Bulldogs Meet in Round 2 of Division II Playoffs

Usually during the playoffs, most of the blogging effort is put towards helping readers learn about teams they are not familiar with. We typically see a lot of new matchups across conferences, as we did last week with matchups involving the GSC, SAC and CIAA. But in round two, a pair of long-time conference rivals will meet in Hickory, competing for a trip to the Super Region 2 championship on December 1.
Saturday’s game will mark the 34th all-time meeting between Lenoir-Rhyne and Wingate ...

  3. Lenoir-Rhyne and Wingate set for D2 Playoffs

    Lenoir-Rhyne crowned SAC Champions
The Bears secured the 2018 SAC football championship on November 3 with a road win at Carson-Newman but the formal coronation occurred at Moretz Stadium following the regular season finale. LR throttled an ailing Catawba team 63-21 to win their tenth consecutive game and complete an undefeated conference schedule. The SAC title is Lenoir-Rhyne’s eighth in program history and first since the 2014 season. The 10-1 record was enough to secure the number three ...

  4. LR wins SAC Title, Limestone has a coach, Playoff spots up for grabs

    Lenoir-Rhyne wins 2018 SAC Championship

Congratulations to our new champions! The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears, picked to finish anywhere from 6th to 8th in most preseason SAC polls, won the 2018 conference championship last Saturday with their 9th straight win. The Bears secured the title by dismantling the overwhelming preseason favorite, Carson-Newman, with a second half surge that the Eagles were helpless to stop. I think everyone expected Lenoir-Rhyne to be better this year. But this ...

  5. Bears play for a championship, Eagles fall, Bulldogs rise in SAC Week 10

Heading into week 10 of the D2 Football season, Lenoir-Rhyne has a chance to win the SAC championship outright, with a game to spare. Think about that. This is a team that was projected to finish near the bottom of the SAC (most likely with a losing record) for the third year in a row. They were on no one's radar for championship or playoff consideration. Yet here they are on the brink of championship. Its been an amazing ride to this point and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching this team come of ...
