Nice work Ray. Thanks for the follow-up and clarifications.

What I found included the following:

    8. The contiguous states principle applies to the state in which your institution resides within.

    9. Does the contiguous states principle still apply to rankings?

Yes. But, based on the size of multi-state conferences, contiguous states would count for some but not for everyone.

Based on its recent use and something I just read from the NCAA, I would venture to guess that it counted for IUP since the opponent was in a state that bordered its own, but not for LIU-Post since NY doesn't border Virginia. Nor does the NE-10 have a team in a state that borders VA. I'll try to get an answer from a source more authoritative on the subject than myself.

Completely agree. Although Virginia Union is technically in SR2, they are in a state (Virginia) which borders SR1 (West Virginia). However, in the final regional rankings worksheet, LIU Post shows an in-region record of 7-2 and no entry in the "in-region OOC" column. The bordering state principle must still be in place since IUP is shown with an 11-0 in-region record, having received credit for their game against GLIAC member Ashland which is in bordering Ohio.

LIU Post does have an OOC though, its a win over Virginia Union

Geeeeee...Wouldn't it be nice if the NCAA had some sort of math based formula to avoid all this second guessing?

Glad to see the Yellow Jackets putting some points on the board this whole year & playing good fundamental football! they have had such a long streak of dismal seasons, coaching changes, etc. along with less financial support than most in the MEC.

Good recaps Raymond. I think the Rams will have their handsfull with Post this weekend, they apparently have a solid experienced OL. Could be a long afternoon.

Thanks! Hopefully the rough drafts aren't too bad. I'm usually too tired to proofread when I get around to submitting the post, I have to clean it up the next day.

Good catch and thanks for pointing that out. I'm not sure what I was looking at when I put that down, but it's fixed now.

Great article, however I noticed in the UVA-Wise @ WV State portion that you said UVA-Wise's record last year was 2-8 and they've matched their win total last year. However, the Cavaliers have already surpassed their win total last year since they were 1-10 last year. http://uvawisecavs.com/schedule.aspx...&path=football

Thanks! I've enjoyed getting to know the conference as a whole. Hopefully we'll get a few teams in the playoffs to keep me going a few more weeks after the regular season.
