  1. ....And Then There Was One

Three MIAA teams concluded their seasons this past Saturday, but for the tenth time in the last twelve seasons, an MIAA team is one of the final four teams remaining in the playoffs. Northwest Missouri State will host West Georgia on Saturday, and the winner will face the winner between Grand Valley State and Shepherd. In bowl action, the MIAA teams split the games, giving the conference a 4-1 record in non-conference games so far.

  2. Another All-MIAA Regional Final and Bowl Game Previews

Sometimes, a person can just plain be wrong. It happens. Predicting the outcomes of football games is not easy (most of the time), and trying to predict the nuances that may occur in a football game is much, much harder. We all knew Mother Nature was going to impact both MIAA playoff games last week, and I predicted that she would help the opposing teams more than the MIAA squads, keeping the margins of victory in the games closer than I thought they would be than if they had been played in optimal ...

The Emporia State Hornets endured a long, weather-hampered bus trip up Interstate 35 to Mankato, Minnesota last Friday for their first round playoff matchup against the second–seeded Minnesota State Mavericks. A lot of people in the D2 community (myself included) thought that the Mavericks would control both lines of scrimmage and come out victorious in the end. I actually thought the game would either end in a convincing Maverick win, or it would be a shootout. As it turned out, the teams took ...

  4. The Regular Season Ends and the Postseason Begins

The regular season concluded this past Saturday, and eight of the twelve MIAA teams are looking to see what they can build upon from this year into next year’s season. Four teams are still practicing, as two teams made the playoffs and the other two were selected for bowl games, which I will get to later. Here is how the final regular season games shook out:

    Missouri Southern St. 21
    Missouri Western St. 63

The earliest game of the season was also pretty much over ...

  5. The MIAA 2015 Regular Season Finale and Postseason Outlook

Week 10 is in the books, and with it, this year’s MIAA Championship was decided. For the record 27th time, Northwest Missouri State officially clinched the MIAA Championship. They had been in a tie with former member Truman State, who is now a member of the GLVC. This year marks the third MIAA Championship in a row for the Bearcats (they officially shared last year’s with Pittsburg State, although the Gorillas beat the Bearcats in Maryville during the regular season), and is their 15th in the ...
