Week 1 Storylines
Eagles Fly High: Carson-Newman got the SAC season off and running Thursday night in a big way, hammering Wayne St in impressive fashion. Everyone was focused on the quarterback and center position, for good reason, but it was the defense to me that was the story. After many long discussions between my agent and the representation at D2Football.com , a deal has been reached for a one-year deal for me to return as SAC columnist in 2013. Even though I didn't get Bob Eblen kind of money, I am happy to come back for another year. In all seriousness, I thoroughly enjoyed writing last year and am really looking forward to this season as well. So many major shoes to fill for many of the top teams will make it fun.

The first ever playoff game in NCAA Division II history for the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears is just a day away. 365 days ago the Bears sat in the near same spot, except this time on the outside looking in. They reset their goals and accomplished the number one focus: make the playoffs. Pretty good three year stretch for LR. 2010 clinch first winning season
Final helmet stickers of 2012 and I've enjoyed them greatly and will bring them back if I make it back to the board for another year. I know there are a few teams that add stickers to their helmets for good play and I am wondering why I didn't send them out? It isnt a violation right? Not an improper benefit to be honored by a lowly D2 columnist right? Maybe I'll make then next year.
