Well the Northern Sun playoff picture got a little simpler this week. Wayne State is out, and the picture is starting to come into a little more focus. Most likely the teams in the Northern Sun are playing for two, at best three playoff spots this year. So here is how it looks.
Minnesota State University- at Winona State, at Wayne State, vs. Sioux Falls, vs. UIU-- A furious 14-point rally in the final six minutes of regulation last week, forced double
Because it is so late this week, I have my picks for the week ready to go, but they will be abreviated. I wanted to spend some time researching the playoffs this week, so I spent some of my normal writing time on that.
Here we go for this weeks forecast.
Winona State (5-1) at Wayne State (4-2)
Last Year: 27-24, Winona State
There are playoff implications all over the place in this matchup that takes place in Wayne, Nebraska this weekend.
The playoff scenerio's for the Northern Sun look pretty interesting as we head down the stretch. Likely only two teams from the Northern Sun are going to get in to the Super Region 3 Playoffs. With the new Super Region structure, I think it would be unlikely to think anymore than 2-Northern Sun teams are getting in.
Who has the best chance? Well here's what we need to consider for now....
Minnesota State University-Mankato (6-0)- vs.
I love techonology. My login issues aside last week, technology makes college football as great as it is.
I was sitting in the Press Box at USF on Saturday night, having just finished the post game show between Southwest and the University of Sioux Falls, when the Athletic Communications Director at Southwest, Kelly Loft, comes up to me and says "Ziemer, you need to see this!"
He then showed me the footage of the last second touchdown pass lifting St. Cloud State
There are some quality matchups this week in the Northern Sun. Augustana at Minnesota Duluth, and Winona State at the University of Mary will highlight a couple of the big games in the conference this week.
But don't think for a second that it will be easy for Concordia in Northern, or for St. Cloud State at Wayne State. Heck, even (against my pick) USF is looking for a 4-0 start in the conference.
It's an interesting week in the Northern Sun, here is how I see it
